2nd Trimester

Now I believe that show "I didn't know I was pregnant"

I've no symptoms in this pregnancy except for a lack of periods.  My belly still looks the same (just a little pudgier though), and I still haven't felt baby movements.  I know my baby is ok because I listen to his/her heartbeat every evening on my doppler, but now I don't think the girls on that show are crazy.

Any others experiencing the same?

  • no movement for me yet, and im not showing (im a bigger girl to begin with) just had horrible morning sickness!

  • At 18 weeks I might have believed it. But a full term pregnancy...no. You will get bigger, and you will feel hard kicks. I find it hard to believe that any person could pawn that off on some other illness or excuse.

  • I hear you and I'm with you! My m/s first trimester was terrible, I guess that would have given it away for me. But if I hadn't had it, or if I had written it off as something else, I may not know now that I am pregnant. This is that weird stage...I've gained weight, I need maternity clothes...but if I didn't know, I would assume I was just eating too much and needed to go up a size in clothes.

Everyone keeps telling me how lucky I am to still be so small and not showing, but I keep saying "the grass is always greener!" Those who show wish they were smaller, those of us who don't show desperately wish we were!

  • Same here, sort of.  My only symptoms have been moodiness, being tired, acid reflux, ... that might be it... which can all be explained by other things besides pregnancy too.  Up until about 21 weeks I was barely showing, just looked like belly fat really.

Now, at 26 weeks though there is definitely more belly than my 12 pound weight gain can account for and I would definitely be getting curious what all the "gas" kicking me was about.  :o)

  • I understand now too. Other than lack of a period and morning sickness for about a month. There is nothing else different about me.
  • I wish!  I've been so sick!
  • just wait.  I don't know how it is possible to go through and not feel anything

  • At 18 weeks I would agree....just wait till you are futher along and I am sure you will change your mind.  I am not sure how you could miss the kicks that I get now, they are freaking hard plus you can even feel the baby roll over.  So I can't imagine what it is going to feel like after 30 weeks.
  • I could have believed it at 18 weeks also. There is no hiding it now though.  I think those girls are whackadoodles.
  • The only symptom I've had with this pregnancy is peeing all the time.  And a lack of periods...but looking at myself at 20 weeks I'd never guess pregnant.

Had I had bleeding every now and then and not been able to feel the baby moving, I would have never known I was pregnant.  I could have easily gone to 18+ weeks not knowing, too.  We'll see how the rest of the pregnancy goes to see if I could have gone the entire way without knowing.

  • I can see how somebody might not know if they haven't felt any baby movement.  But once that starts, I think there is some serious denial going on.  Baby kicks do not feel like gas.  They do not feel like a stomachache.  They feel like... a baby.  Or an alien.  Who is kicking and punching you.

And I understand that some women may not feel movement as much as others... but I can't believe they didn't feel *anything* the whole time.

  • Someone I worked with over the summer didn't know she was pg until about 19 wks- no symptoms at all. I didn't know I was pg w/ DD until nearly 12 wks. I can't imagine going full term and not knowing, but it sounds like there are definitely scientific explanations. I like surprises, but yikes!

  • A girl I know actually had a baby in March that she didn't know she was having. My pg has been completely the opposite, I think I've had every single symptom in the book! I can kind of understand the 'not showing' thing, especially if the girl is a little bigger to begin with. What I can't get past though is the movement I feel feels completely different then anything I've ever felt before.

  • If we weren't actively trying and if I had as irregular periods as some of those women I might not have had a clue I was pg.  Pre pg I was constantly queasy and sick anyway.   So if I didn't know I would have just blown off the morning sickness as my typical stomach issues.  I've always been a sleepy person.  On weekends I'll sleep at least 10 hours and then still need at least one nap a day.  So I wouldn't have though anything about being super tired.  My boobs hurt for probably a week.  But I think I can only see myself being oblivious for the first couple months.  I haven't gained a huge amount of weight but I would have started getting a bit suspicious after gaining weight so quickly when I've always stayed at a certain weight for years.
  • Same here- I have had relatively no symptoms this pregnancy. I gain weight in my stomach area only anyway so I can totally see me no really knowing.
