Question for ladies in FL

I will be near Orlando mid-October and I am curious about the weather that time of the year.

DH isn't coming, but I have some decent co-workers that will be with me.   Some are bringing their families and a few will be solo like me.  Here's where we're staying.  I'll be there 4 days - at a conference during the day, but free time at night!

Is there some good restaurants near by?  What would you recommend I do while I'm there?  I was planning to treat myself to a spa treatment or two.

P.S. I'm not really into the Disney thing or rides.

Re: Question for ladies in FL

  • Depending on cool fronts (or just the random breezes) it can be pretty nice during the day but better at night (hi 88 low 74 if it stays like it is now).
There's some killer oultet malls https://www.primeoutlets.com/orlando that have some awesome stuff (were good walking shoes, it's a huge place). But if you have a day off you can follow hgwy192 all the way to the beach in melbourne.

I"d say just bring a light sweater/cardigan and sandals :-)

  • Ditto PP.

I live in south Florida, so I don't think I can give you any useful advice (i.e., I think it's far too cold anytime it hits the low 70s), but I hope you have a great trip!

  • I am in Orlando
    Coronado is a nice hotel
I will have to think of some restaurant recs for you

Will you have a rental car?
If you are on I drive, which is where the convention center is, go to Cafe Tu tu Tango they have yummy food & usually some entertainment.
Pointe Orlando (also on I drive) has a few great places to eat.

O, I look forward to the recommendations!

I don't think I'll have a rental car because there is a shuttle to/from the airport.  If there's something worth seeing/doing that requires a rental I might consider.

  • No need for a rental car if you are already on disney property
I think the shuttle will take you to downtown disney
I like Wolfgang Pucks Cafe at Downtown Disney
Cirque du solei is also there if you plan on seeing any type of shows.
There are a ton of stores there to walk around & look at.

One night you should go to the Boardwalk hotel (also on Disney property so you should be able to get a shuttle there)
The Boardwalk has a few places to eat & it is a fun place to walk around, they have street performers, a few shops, there is usually a movie on the beach in the evenings & sometimes they do smores on the beach in front of the Caribbean beach hotel.

I don't expect the weather to drop that much by mid October
I usually am still wear flip flops shorts & tank tops that time of year
Check weather.com in the days leading up to your travel because we do strange cold fronts that just come in, give us a tease & then leave as quickly as they came

If you are looking for a nice dinner & a great place to see the fireworks over the castle, book a dinner reservation for 7:ish at the California Grill in the Contemporary hotel

  • Hi Peetie!

I am not really familiar with the Orlando area but I know there is a lot of Restaurants up and down International Drive. You can also go to Downtown Disney. Since you are staying at one of the hotels, you should have free transportation there. There are some really good places to eat there  (Wolfgang Puck had these to die for pumpkin raviolis with a sage butter sauce) and also there is some cool bars. There is the Cirque show there as well.
