pot roast slow cooker recipe?

i have one where you use dry onion soup mix and cream of mushroom soup but i kind of want it to create a dark sauce while cooking and I dont know if this will. Any suggestions?

  • just use the onion soup mix and beef broth instead of the cream of mushroom soup. If you want it thicker in the end, drain off the sauce and thicken it up with a tablespoon of cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup COLD water.

  • If you use hot water it will make un-smooshable clumps.

    oh wow.. thank you!!
  • Cook it in coke. I'm not even kidding, it breaks down the roast to make it SO tender and makes awesome gravy. I'll never make it any other way.

  • When I make pot roast in the crockpot, I just add about 1/2 cup of water along with one package of ranch dressing mix, one package of brown gravy mix, and about 1/2 pkg of Italian dressing mix. It's really yummy!
  • I have 2 ways of making mine, the first is using a container of V8 juice. I just put that in with the meat and veggies and come dinner time YUM! The second way is with one of the seasoning packets from the store for potroast in the crockpot. It turned out really good too!
  • Besides the veggies and meat, I throw in red wine and cream of mushroom soup.  5 hours on low and Ta-Da!
  • I like using the McCormick slow cooker pot roast packet. I use beef broth instead of water.
