NTTCR: Anyone NOT love their job?

I know I shouldn't whine because I do have a good job with decent pay and benefits (no IVF coverage though) and I work from home 4 days a week.

But I am not having job satisfaction because when it comes down to it, I don't like what I'm doing. I also don't trust my supervisor and her supervisor and am feeling paranoid when talking to them.

I have been looking for a new job but I went through two very promising interview processes over the past two months that didn't lead to a job offer. With one I went through 4 separate interviews!  Even the HR person was sure I would get it.

I am meeting with a recruiter tomorrow for a another job so hopefully I will get lucky!

Maybe its my age (mid-life crisis anyone?), but as with the IF struggles, I am really assessing what I really want/can do!

Thanks for reading...

Re: NTTCR: Anyone NOT love their job?

  • I left a job I was perfectly happy at in December for a new opportunity that was closer to home, more money, and offered a broader range of experience that I felt was a positive career move.  Wasn't even job hunting, but I had some connections who thought I would be "perfect" for this job.  Oy vey.  Should have stayed where I was at.  While I could likely go back to my old job, that would mean a pay cut and 3.5 hours of commuting a day.

I also have decided that I don't want to stay in my field any more but am at a loss of what my other options are.  At this point in my life, I can't take a serious pay cut to be happy.  HA!  (boy, that statement is sad, but true)

Keep your chin up during your job search.  The fact that you are getting called back is a great sign, even though you are not getting an offer.  DH has been on several interviews as well, and with this economy, many times they don't even end up filling positions he's interviewd for.  Plus, even though it may be discouraging, it's always good practice.  GL!

  • I love and hate my job at the same time. I love we can wear what we want, we have unlimited overtime, I get to work form home 1 day a week.. and we can bring pets to work... but I hate Hate hate hate my hours. I got moved to the 12 pm to 9 pm shift. I hate it. I hate working this late I miss out on so much stuff, shows, shopping with friends, family dinners, birthday parties.

But the insurance is great.. and everything else.. just the hours.

  • I don't like everything about my job.  I love the kids, and I like that I can be creative as a teacher.  All of the meetings, parent communication, and dealing with politics make my job really yucky sometimes.
  • I use to love my job, until my executive director left and they hired a micromanager.  I still love what I do, and my direct supervisor, and coworkers... but I am not happy having to document the same thing three thousand times.. the tension in the office is sooooo thick.  Luckily, I could quit tomorrow and we would be just fine...  but I like having my own paycheck.  So I have been looking for another job- even if it is part time.
  • I absolutely LOVE my job, but I HATED my old one.  I was an attorney for 3 years and I was miserable.  I made a sudden and drastic career change to become a real estate agent and it was one of the best things I have ever done.  I think you are doing the right thing by looking for something else.  We spend so much time at work that I think it is very important to find something you enjoy.

    Good luck!

  • I'm in the hate the job group...I left a career I loved to move out here and am definitley not happy where I am at.  I took a pay cut and a demotion, but on the up side, I actually found a good job out here that actually pays me very well for what I do.  It's all relative though...my DH lived here and I made the move to be with him....so technically it's all worth the pain!

  • I hate my current job, and lucky me, I start a new one in ten days.  With better pay for a more stable organization.  I would cry so many nights when I got home over the misery I was in.  Since I gave my notice to my current employer, everyone comments how much happier I seem.

Also, I believe I get some paid maternity with my new job - after 12 months, so if I don't get pregnant until 3+ months later, that is ok.  Though we are still trying since we planned on me taking off time without pay before.

Now I need to find out if my new insurance will cover any infertility.  I am counting down the days...
