Mercury Free Flu Vaccine (not H1N1)

Hi there,

Does anyone know of a place in the Boston area that has the mercury free flu vaccine? ?I have heard that it can be special ordered and would love to know where I could do that. ?Also, I guess the vaccine in general isn't available at most places until October, but it is at Walgreens. ?That seems sort of odd to me. ?Has anyone had experience with getting the flu shot there before?

Thanks in advance!?

Re: Mercury Free Flu Vaccine (not H1N1)

  • Have you called your PCP to see if they carry them?  A lot of places do have them on hand.  My OB has them in the fall and I get one then.
  • I'm not sure, but my OBGYN said I could get the one with mercury in it because there are such low levels of mercury.

  • The risks of exposure to mercury (thimerosol actually) to a pregnant woman getting the flu vaccine is negligible and the benefits of getting protection against influenza far outweigh the perceived risk of mercury exposure.

See CDC link for more info specifically on pregnancy and flu vaccine:

I got mine already last week at my OB
