Ridiculous OH Court Ruling on Breastfeeding

Hi guys, sorry if this is a repost, but have you seen this article?

Apparently OH wants to make it even harder for women in America to raise their families.

Re: Ridiculous OH Court Ruling on Breastfeeding

  • I am from Northern Kentucky, and Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana are some of the worst when it comes to breastfeeding.  They are moving backwards and I have yet to understand why it's happening.  I am all about keeping it private and covered, but some places don't even allowed breastfeeding under cover, like some swimming pools I have heard.

And this used to be the only way women fed their children!  It amazes me how quickly some greedy formula company convinced the world that breastmilk was bad and formula was better, but the breastfeeding comeback seems to be such a slow progress.  Sometimes it seems like it doesn't progress at all.

  • "Pregnant [women] who give birth and choose not to breastfeed or pump their breasts do not continue to lactate for five months. Thus, Allen's condition of lactating was not a condition relating to pregnancy but rather a condition related to breastfeeding. Breastfeeding discrimination does not constitute gender discrimination."

WOW.  That's freaking KLASSY.  I say from now on women who work for such neanderthals just let their breasts leak while on the sales floor.  If management thinks that breastfeeding can be easily just "scheduled', they will soon learn by the embarassment of their customers.

ETA: and how the hell is breastfeeding not a condition relating to pregnancy?  How ELSE would the woman's breasts become engorged and secrete milk? By this logic, are children not the result of pregnancy, since after they are delivered the mother is no longer pregnant?  Is pregnancy not the result of male ejaculation, because once the male and female separate the male's penis can't be held responsible?  I just can't even fathom how intelligent people can buy that crap.

  • That was a great article.. thanks for sharing!
  • That is horrible! The LCs/nurses in our community and state are advocating for more rights for working moms that breast feed. Makes me even more proud to be Alaskan!

  • I am glad that I don't live in OH...Sad That sucks!
  • I really hope the position with the company I am with now turns permanent.  Even though I live in OH this company protects a mother's right to BF, and it is a steel mill, approximately 90% of the workforce (probably more) is male, so they have the BFing policy for only 10% of their workers!

I am saddened to know that the OH courts seem to be moving backwards on this issue.  BFing is natural, I don't understand why it is ok for women with man-made enhancements to fling their boobs everywhere but the minute a mama wants to  use them for what boobs were created for people get up in arms against it!

  • Nice. Go Cleveland.
