1st Trimester

If early labor feels like gas pains than I know it's a piece of cake!

In fact I might not even recognize that I am in labor till I am at least 4 cm! LOL I have had gas sooooo bad. It's very predictable as well. I get it at night when I lie down in bed and first thing in the morning before I wake up. I have to take GasX  2x a day. It's very uncomfortable and annoying so much that I lose precious sleep over it. Anyone else feel this way?

  • You need to evaluate the food you are eating! And drink more water. Also try walking to get your body moving and that will help. I have had to occasionally take one gas x but not daily.

  • You should have your doctor check your gall bladder, someone on 2nd tri. posted something yesterday about extreme gas pain (especially if it is between your shoulder blades) She has gall stones.
  • Early labor with both of my girls felt nothing like gas pains....more like intense / harder BH contractions.

  • I have horrible gas too :( DH likes to tell people that its like living with 10 men who are drinking beer and eating chili dogs...thanks hun :)
  • I'm 24 weeks, and from about 15-23 weeks i couldnt sleep without taking 2 gas x right before bed. Seems i forgot to take one the past few nights, and ive woken up fine. *I heard* that gas gets better around the 3rd tri. But you're not alone. My gas pains have been so severe on and off thru this pregnancy that ive thought i was dying/miscarrying/having a cyst rupture... etc. feel better!
  • PS...

i learned that eating and drinking seperately does wonders for gas.

I have a little bit to drink, then i eat my whole dinner without any liquid, and once i know im done for good with my plate of food, i drink. It cut down the gas pains by at least 70%, no joke! Try it!

Maalox maxx works amazing too, but once i started seperating my food and drinks, i havent needed it.

  • Early labor felt more like the worst period cramp of my life.

  • Thanks for all the advice...just to clarify. Some women have described labor as feeling like gas pains I know of one case on A Birth Story described like that. However, I know that is not the case every time. Also, Since m/s has made me able to only eat certain foods or try different foods that I normally would never eat in my life. I would still like to say that I eat rather well. I eat lots of fruit and I would like to think a pretty well rounded diet and for the most part have stayed away from fast food and coffee and the like that may cause a lot of gas. I haven't been constipated once so far! I used to get gas even before I was pregnant on fried, greasy foods so I am pretty aware of what causes that problem.

I will talk to my doctor about the possiblity of the gall bladder and up my water intake and exercise regimen.
