didn't anyone's lifestyle change after having a baby? people complain about the cost of formula, etc... but i find that after we had the baby, we spend less money eating out and hanging out on the weekends... YES, formula & diapers is costing $150-$200 per month, but we used to spend WAAAYYYY more than that before our baby on entertainment & senseless stuff. I feel like we've become more budget-conscious and have way more $$$ left over than we ever did before. Anyone else feel this way?
Re: s/o formula costs....
I don't think we gave up quite as much as we thought we would to make up the difference, but yeah, our lifestyle changed. We do get take-out quite a bit more than we used to, but we don't see movies (for example).
We don't spend money like we used to, but then again, we are making less. I'm on maternity leave and I get paid 70% pay now, and then after Xmas it's going down to 50% pay. (Which I am very very grateful for).
We pay more in rent since we moved into a bigger apartment (with two bedrooms) in a more expensive neighborhood that is very family friendly and has great community activities. It was a cost we were more than willing to take.
What's suffering the most right now is our savings. We aren't putting as much as we used to away.
yup....it sort of evened out for us......we don't but a lot of formula since we mostly bf, but we have tons of poopy dipes and go through many dipes in a day.......
we used to eat out a lot more though....
i don't think Formula is that much a month. maybe 100 bucks. i used to spend that on other stuff pre baby that don't need now.
no biggy.
Figure this one out:
I'm on mat leave and getting 1/4 of what I normally make from my government mat leave pay. DH is working like normal.
And we have more money now than we did before.
So we're definitely more budget conscious now.
