I have to throw away my milk for 24 hours, I could cry

Found out I had a UTI so they gave me an RX. Talked with the nurse and doctor about how I was BFing when I was there. DH picked up my meds. I took one last night and then, LUCKILY, read the paperwork and it says that this med does go to breast milk and they dont advise it while BFing. WTF. So I call the pharmacy to verify and yes it's not advised. So I have been pumping and dumping since then. We are exhausting our very small supply of frozen milk now too so I have been mixing formula in with that for now. Also DD hates taking a bottle from me and we are home alone today. It's going to be a long one! I can't believe DH wouldn't mention that to the pharmacist when picking up my RX! He used to be a pharmacy tech you think he'd know to ask. I also should have read up before taking it as well. GRRRRRR. On a brighter note DD slept through the night last night!! WOO

10pm to 5am. I am soo proud of her

Ugh! I can't believe they didn't tell you... or that they didn't give you something else! I spilled 2 oz of BM today and I almost cried. BM is like gold!

Were you on Levaquin? I was going to try to get them to change my med today so that after today I could feed her. I'm wondering if they will suggest I finish the dosage (4 more days). The pharmacist recommended something in the same family but safe so I am going to talk to the Dr. about it today.

I am so sorry. I know how hard that is - I had to dump my milk for 7 days when DD was 3 weeks old. It was so hard. I actually asked DH to do it for me once or twice. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies! If you had to pump and dump did your LO go back to the breast? I am really nervous she won't, especially if the Dr. tells me I have to continue on this medication for the next 4 days.
