Pregnant after a Loss

ladies checking ketones-come on in

Hi girls.  I'm a little distraught and don't know what to do.  With my son, I was diagnosed with GD and the diabetes place that I went to required me to do the ketones sticks.  Well, no one else on these boards with GD at the time had to do these ketones sticks (so I was surprised to read that post below).  I really didn't care for the place at all so when I was diagnosed with GD early this time around I went with a new place that was specifically for pg women.  They do not require the ketones sticks and say that the body is already in a ketonic state when pg so it's pointless.  Part of me is very happy about this cause I struggled with it so badly last time, but most of me feels like I should still be monitoring it.  My son turned out perfect and I'm a little scared to deviate from what I did last time.  I bought the sticks from the pharmacy for my own reassurance but it's not the same as when someone is breathing down your neck monitoring you.  I don't really know what I'm asking of you all, maybe just some reassurance or some opinions on what you all would do.

  • I monitor it, but nobody checks it unless I have several days of poor results.  The nutritionist is the one that has me do this, not my peri.  I think it is fine if you are monitoring it on your own for peace of mind.  Just let your doc know if you have consistant poor results.

  • Thanks a bunch.  I think that I will be more diligent in checking it.  There is no nutritionist at the new diabetes place so that is different too.  I had one before.
