Re: People who have gone on all inclusive resorts

  • we did Sandals for our honeymoon and really enjoyed it.  Everything is taken care of for you, you just walk into the bar or restaurant and order, no driving around, no reservations, good relaxing vacation

  • We went to Caesar's Pocono Palace, which is all-inclusive.  I liked not having to think about meals, but I didn't like having to sit with other couples for meals.  A lot of the included activities were kind of lame, but there were a few that were worthwhile.

  • We got married at one of the Palace resorts in Mexico- the Aventura Spa Palace. We loved it. We have been to others but this is by far our fave. We plan to go back for our 5th anniversary. They catered to everything
  • We also did Sandals and loved it. We got married on the resort, and everything was taken care of. They have food all over the resort, both restaurants and stuff you can help yourself to, and tons of bars, most of which are open 24/7. I would recommend getting one of the concierge level rooms. You get benefits that you wouldn't normally get that way. Be careful, though - the people that helped us on to the shuttle to the hotel did NOT work for Sandals and expected tips from us (which we were happy to oblige). Also, despite the name, men cannot wear Sandals in any of the restaurants, so tell your DH to bring dress shoes!

We also went here for our Honeymoon.  I loved it, it was so nice!

We use Apple b/c they are the only airline who has direct flights from our home airport.  We've gone to the Riviera Maya (Occidental XCaret) and the DR (Natura Park).  We LOVED both trips.  It's definitely SUPER relaxing b/c you don't have to do a thing.  But it's not for everyone b/c it's not particularly cultural if you don't leave the resort and other than beach stuff there isn't anything else to do unless you leave the resort.

  • Definitely Paradisus Palma Real in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  DH and I went there with my parents last year, and it was gorgeous!  My parents have a vacation club membership and this is one of their favorite resorts to visit.  Great food, amazing service.  They have a live show every night and sometimes have audience participation/prizes, which is fun.  They will seriously take care of all your needs, including turning down your bed at night with your choice of aromatherapy pillows and setting up a bubble bath in the jacuzzi tub in your room with scented bath oils.  Very nice!

We honeymooned there too and LOVED it -- I can't wait to go back!!! We also went to the the Palace resort in Cancun, but that was "family friendly" and I wouldn't reccomend it if you are going on an adults only vacation... ASP is adults only and I loved it.

My parents went last year for their 30th wedding anniversary and the also loved it.

I can't say enough about how great it was.

  • Not a resort, but I've done two cruises. I loved Royal Carribean. Might be something to look into!

We've been here a few times but it is VERY expensive for what you get... I mean the rooms are really cool (we always stay in the rooms w/the pools in them) but the price only includes breakfast and dinner -- not lunch or drinks.

We go when we are forced to stay local because it's only like 2 hrs from us, but I woudn't fly to get there or drive more than 3 hours or so.

And just an FYI, if you get to dinner early or really late you can almost always get your own table, you just have to ask.

  • we went to El Dorado Royale for our 1st anniversary which is adult "gourmet" all inclusive, it had 7 sit down restaurants (no buffets) and it was heaven. it is located in Riviera Maya in Mexico. We had such an awesome time that 9 months later.....max was born Wink  Tony and I are not very big drinkers and I was worried that an all inclusive would be a wasted because we won't "drink" our money's worth, well what we didn't "drink" we sure "ate". the food was amazing and the atmosphere was heaven.

i would check out www.travelzoo.com , www.applevacations.com, www.cheapcarribean.com, we ended up booking with liberty travel because they had best price.

  • We went to Rivera Mya for our honeymoon and we loved it! We stayed at Iberostar, it was a nice resort the only thing that I semi did not like was there were a lot of children (I don't mind kids at all but on our honeymoon I would rather it be all adults). They just built an adults only part to the resort, my friend just went there and loved it. I love doing all inclusive, I think you get more for your money that way!

  • We got married at the Sandals Ocho Rios in Jamaica.  I loved it!  We stayed on the Villa side where each building has only 4 rooms and a little pool.  We used the pool a few times and never saw anyone else so it was like our own private pool.  There's also a beach side, which is where more of the nightlife was.  I would definitely go back, but next time I think we would get a Butler-level room.  They do everything for you, even drive you around so you don't have to walk.  LOL!

  • We stayed at the Royal Hideaway in Playa del Carmen for our honeymoon. I highly recommend it, the food was great, the drinks were great, the service was great.

  • We honeymooned at Dreams in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  It had 5 restaurants, a private beach, an "open air" lobby and one of the towers (there were two) had a hot tub on the balcony for each room.  It was perfect!

  • We just got back from an all-inclusive and it was AWESOME!! We did couples in negril, jamaica.  No complaints, it was beautiful, relaxing and we only spend $40 extra on the trip.  It was money well spent!
