Is this a dumb idea?

DD had a ton of receiving blankets that are still stacked neatly in her closet. I was thinking of making them all into a sort of 'quilt' for her. I use the word quilt loosely since I actually don't know how to quilt, but I can sew so I am just going to wing it. WDYT?

I've always wanted to do it with the kids baby clothes...but never got around to it. I think it's a really cute idea!

I think its a cute idea! You can always do a patchwork quilt and just hand tie it. I don't know how to sew, but if you do, it doesn't really require any "extra" to do it that way.

I think that's a great idea, and since they're already basically pre-cut small squares of cloth, it shouldn't be hard. You could even add a layer of batting or whatever and then put some soft backing on to hold it all together. Sounds cute.

Freakin GREAT idea. I wish I had thought to do that. My friend made a blanket out of flannel for DS. I was going to make one for a friend who was having a girl and didn't even think to use DD's receiving blankets. Instead I just gave those away. Dangit. I can find (if you are interested) the instructions on the 'quilt' that was made for DS. It is awesome and she said it was very easy to make...
