tattoos and BF

I posted this on the breastfeeding board, but haven't gotten any replies yet...anyone know if it is ok to get a tattoo while breastfeeding???

    Oooh that's a good question- I waited throughout pregnancy for a new one but hadn't thought about BF. I would guess it's okay since the ink is localized (assuming you are going to a clean, reputable shop and don't have to worry about dirty needles and whatnot). I would still ask my pedi though. Have you checked kellymom?

    I haven't checked kellymom, but I read the above link.  Makes sense.  The ink is safe, there is just a risk of getting Hep C.  There is always that risk I guess.  I really want to get my first tattoo...DD's, DH's, and my astrological signs on the side of my foot.

    I've heard it's fine as long as the place you go to is clean and uses new needles every time. I'm BFing and planning on getting one next month (DD's footprints with her name and birthdate)
