WWYD - sleeping after 2m shots

DD has been sleeping a TON today after her shots. Should I wake her up to eat? I EBF if that matters, and normally feed on cue rather than on a schedule.

Re: WWYD - sleeping after 2m shots

  • I think if she's hungry enough she'll wake up. I'd let her sleep, I'm sure she's had a rough day!Smile

  • Mine had his today too and has been sleeping away. I wake him every 3 hours to feed anyway, except I usually don't have to wake him. Anyway, I'd wake her up and feed her. The shots could also make her less hungry so it's important to try even if she doesn't take much. My guy wakes up, eats half what he usually does and is back asleep in about 15 min.

  • I wouldn't.  She'll wake up when she's hungry.

    How did she do?

  • Let her sleep.  Seriously, you'll majorly regret it if you wake her up if she is anything like DS was the evening after his shots.
  • I let dd sleep yesterday after hers. She eventually woke up to eat and then fell immediately back to sleep.

Then when she woke up, she was back to normal and was up late, not in bed until 10:30ish. I hope your night is easier!

  • I wouldn't!  Unless she hasn't eaten in a really, really, long time (like 8-10 hours or more)...  She's old enough to go without food for a little while, the only concern would be dehydration.  My pedi said that if a 2-4 month old has 1 wet diaper every 8 hours, s/he is not dehydrated.

Long story short, I'd let her sleep it off.

After DS got his 2 month shots, he came home and slept for 5 hours.  He woke up, ate, and went to bed, slept for 8 hours (longest he had ever slept at that point), before waking up to eat.

The next day, he was back to his old self.

  • Of course, as soon as I posted, she woke up  :)

TMB - she did well! Cried for about 15 seconds but then I was able to nurse her for a couple minutes before she fell asleep. It was easier for me than I thought, too! :)

  • I never wake a sleeping baby, unless I have to take him to the doctor :-)
