hey! i just read your most recent blog post. i am impressed you still manage to find time to blog. we completely gave up even a few days before she came home.
anyways, just wondering if you had any luck with cloth diapers yet? let me know if i can help at all...
also, i see your baby is on a pulse ox monitor. this is what we have: O2 set at 1/4 ltr, an apnea monitor (has never alarmed at all since we have been home for almost 3 weeks), & the pulse ox monitor. we were told to check her pulse ox levels 3 times a week--we keep her hooked up to it ALL NIGHT LONG because like Wren, Stella pulls out her canula and I don't want her sats to drop enough for her to go into distress. Do you guys leave her plugged into it all day? it's hard because the stupid foot probes wear out so fast!
and have you ever ran your hand under the 1/4 ltr O2 flow? it feels like nothing! isn't it amazing that such a tiny flow makes such a huge difference to these little ladies?
Re: mommamorris
thanks for reading.
it's my outlet- so i sacrifice a little sleep to keep it updated. i'm hoping to get it to a point where it can be a help to other parents at some point. plus, it keeps me from having to call everyone and their dog everyday- trust me, a blog post is much faster than a phone call to family.
i've used the fuzzibunz size small a few times. (loaned by a friend.) she's at about 6lbs now, and they almost fit. i think i'm going to invest in a few x-smalls. the small size is too wide in the crotch and splays her legs. i want her to crawl eventually, so it worries me to keep her legs splayed out.
we don't have an apnea monitor... wren never really had apnea or bradys. (not sure why.. she sure as heck can't breathe very well.) we leave her plugged into it most of the time. but i don't worry about it if i'm interacting with her, because i feel comfortable enough to recognize a desat. (though she doesn't have many other than the "oxygen is unhooked somewhere" ones.)
the foot probes! ah, the foot probes! they definitely wear out fast! they gave us mosimo brand- which is apparently "the jaguar" of pulse ox monitors according to my neo. but just her kicking around and being a normal baby caused the wires to stick out hwere the probe connects to the cord part. AND they're $114/each.. and my insurance only covers 4/month! i'm hoping we can get an exception to get more!
it is hard to believe such a small amount can keep them alive! it terrifies me that her life is hanging on that tiny bit of air...
