New York Babies

Mount Sinai Hospital...

I'm due in March and the hospitals in my area are Lenox Hill and Mount Sinai in New York's Upper East Side. If anyone can please give me any feedback on these two hospitals also stores where I can test out baby gear...

Thank you!

Re: Mount Sinai Hospital...

  • Mt. Sinai is known as a much better hospital than Lenox Hill, but you really can't go wrong with either. ?Mt. Sinai has a better natal ICU in case something goes wrong. ?But it really depends on your ob-gyn & where she delivers - most of us don't have a choice. ?where does your dr. deliver? ?

    ?

For testing out baby gear, head to Buy Buy Baby in Chelsea - it's huge & the salespeople are very helpful. try to go on a weekday. ?good luck!?

  • I know people who have delivered at both.  Sinai is one of the top hospitals to deliver and has great doctors but the maternity ward really isn't that nice.  I have heard Lenox Hill has a nice maternity ward but haven't seen it.

Why not Weill Cornell on 70th and York?  That is where I'm delivering and it is great and has great doctors!

  • I delivered at Mt. Sinai because this was the only hospital my dr. delivered - so I didn't have much of a choice. I think my care was exceptional. I ended up having a c/s, but the nurses and residents in L&D were professional. The maternity ward was renovated recently and are pretty nice. The one downside I would say (and maybe this is common in most NYC hospitals - like I said, I didn't do any research of other hospitals b/c this was the only place my dr delivered) is that you have to pay out of pocket for private rooms. I am so thankful that we did get a private room - especially since our stay was a bit longer due to the c/s.
