A mom from Ava's old daycare center just called me, and asked if I would consider watching her kid 2-3 days a week. She's 2 months younger than Ava, just a DOLL, and I do like the mom/dad. (they came to Ava's bday party, incidently, have struggled with ART, lost their pregnancy same time we did this late May, weird....) .. so we just have to talk out the logistics.
My current PT nursing gig is moving across town, (icky) and I'm having a hard time finding a PT job I want, so I was probably going to just stay home this fall anyways.
They paid about $90 a day at the center we went to. They want to leave that place to save some money.
She'll be in my care about 8:30am-5:30pm .2 or 3 days a week. I'll provide everything but diapers and wipes, to keep it simple.
What should I charge her? I really have no idea.
I'd like to just do a day rate. cash. (or how does that work?)
thanks!
Re: Help with In Home daycare costs
LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
Life is beautiful!
I live in the burbs of Chicago, and for a non-liscensed, home, daycare, 35.00 per child per day is fair (give or take) I would imagine it would be close to that. 70.00 per day for both children.
They would provide diapes, and wipes.
ETA I read wrong! Only one child. I would still be in the range of 30-40 a day. If you are in Minneapolis, it may be a little more, but 90.00 a day is HIGH for here!!!

I think you may want to post this on your local newlywed or baby board as it's quite a regional thing.
I've paid $40 - $50 a day and I make $40 - $50 a day for watching 1 child.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
It really depends on your area. I pay $6/hr for DD at an in-home - b/c she is parttime. Otherwise it's like $200/week for FT.
Also - I would consider making her bring everything that her kids use - like food, snacks, diapers, etc. It can all really add up.
