  • I believe it is "doctor of osteopathy."  DO's have regular medical training, but then also training in some more holistic treatments as well.
  • I asked this last time I was the dr.s office.  DO means they are a dr of osteopathic medicine and MD means they went to "regular" medical school.  that's what they told me anyway!

  • My husband is in Osteopathic Medical school right now.  We get this question all of the time!  These are my husband's exact words: Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine is the use of traditional medicine and a total body system view blended with evidence based medicine.  It is the belief that the structure and function of a body are closely related. 

    They are taught that over-medicating someone sometimes does more harm than good.

    In the medical world,  they are regarded as the same as MD's and specialize in all the fields:)  I hope this helps!
