how much time passed until you went into labor?

I have been 1cm dilated since my last appt (10 days ago). I go back to see my doc tomorrow and am hoping I will have made some more progress. Just curious as to what other ladies experienced.

I was 1 cm dialated for over a month, on my feet 8 hours a day. Don't get excited- it doesn't mean anything.

ETA: And dr. had to break my water because I was in labor for 2 days w/out making progress... sorry.

Went to the doctor on Monday, no dialation, no thinning, no effacement. Went into labor Saturday. Got to the hospital at 8-9cm and had DD an hour and a half later.

I had no progress at all at my 39 week appt., then went into labor at 39 weeks 5 days.

Unfortunately, 1cm dilated means nothing when it comes to timing, just that your body's getting ready.

That's why I'm glad I didn't get any internals until I hit 39 weeks.

I didn't get any internals until the very end for this very reason. Being dilated means nothing in terms of when you'll go into labor. You might still be weeks away, even if you have more "progress" tomorrow. But the good news is, you have less to go once labor does start.

Try not to get discouraged tomorrow if you're not dilated any more. And don't get too excited if you are! GL.

With DS1, I was 2 cm at 36 weeks and was induced three weeks later. With DS2, I was 2 cm at 36 weeks and went into labor at 37w3d.

Dilation means nothing, sadly you can sit at 1 cm until your 41 weeks.

I had my first internal at 36w3d, was high, closed, no sign of labor and my water broke at home at 37w5d.

Seriously, it means nothing. You could progress from 0-10 in less than a day, or sit at 2-3 cm for several weeks (as I did).

Then, I got to 8cm at the hospital and was stuck there for over 8 hours. So, yeah. Means nothin'.

i was 1cm dilated on a tuesday - went into labor fri nite and had DD saturday after 18 hrs of labor.

I was in labor already. First time I was checked was in the hospital after I labored at home awhile and was 4 cm. Sorry to tell you that internals don't mean much unless you're worried about your Bishop score/induction chances. You could go into labor tomorrow or you could have weeks, no way to tell.

I was 1-2 cm at 38 weeks and Dr told me "Make next appointment, but I don't think you will make it". I was pretty disappointed to see him a week later, 2-3 cm and Dr started talking about putting dates on calendar ... My water finally broke 2 days before DD, 1 day before scheduled induction ... Progress is exciting, but it does not predict when /if labor starts. Try enjoying these last moments of LO kicking and moving in your belly. You will miss is soon enough. GL !

i had my an appt at 36wk1d & was told i was to a 1 & 50% effaced. my water broke exactly a week later & when admitted to L&D i was still 1cm & 50%!! wish i had better news!!

I was 1cm dialated at my 36 wks appointment. I was induced at 40 wks 1 days due to high blood pressure.

ETA: at my 40 week appointment I was 2-2.5 cm dialated.

For me - same day - I wasn't dilated at all the week before - I started having contractions through the night (I really thought they were BH). I had Dr appt for my gestational diabetes that day at the hospital so dropped into my OBs office just to check - cervix was soft - not dilated - they sent me to triage (because I have to have a c-section) and 2 hours later - I was dilated to 3 cm!! Then I had to wait another 9 hours to wait for my turn in the OR - luckily even though I was contracting the whole time I was never in any pain!

I was almost 1cm at 35wks and went into labor 3 days before my due date.

Some are at 4cms for weeks and weeks

I was admitted to the hospital for kidney issues which was causing me to have contractions, from the pain and stress. I was dialated to 1, that was at 33 weeks. So not sure if I was before then or not. Hasd him at 37w4d. It doesn't make a difference, you can go from 0-10 real quick

I was 1cm starting at 35 weeks until 38 and then they stopped checking because they knew I was going to have a c/s. I did progress from 80% to 90%!

I found out I was 2cm dilated on a Monday, went to the hospital to have my BP monitored and found out I was having mild contractions that day. However, labor didn't actually start 'til that Wednesday (one day before my scheduled c-section, which ended up being on Wed instead).
