I'm so over the high cost of living, not having any family nearby, years going by without seeing some of my best friends. MH and I talked about it and he's on board-but obviously the job market is going to be the big roadblock with selling our house coming in a close second. Ugh-nothing's easy, is it? Anyone pick up and move out of state?

Re: We're thinking of moving back to Michigan-are we BSC?
we almost did, Kitty! 2 years ago-MH got promoted/transfered to Gaithersburg...we couldn't sell our house then, either! (well, we could have but only with taking a loss!)
The job market is just now picking up in MI. And by that, I mean layoffs have slowed and the job market is not frozen. So now it's just tough to find a job but no longer impossible. And on the upside--you might be able to get much more house than you had before since the price in all segments of the market have dropped so much.
Where are you moving from and what field does your DH work in? Do you work?
What kind of job(s) are you looking for?
DH and I live in Michigan, and we are doing well, but most of our friends/neighbors/coworkers all have people laid off or unemployed. Or know someone that is.
mh does field management for a media company. I work in recruiting/HR for a non-profit, though if mh found the right job I would probably sah.
we're coming from MA
You are crazy just because it would be nice to have playdates. But it would be great for you to be near your friends and family. Have you started looking to see what you could get for jobs and houses?
Also, what are houses going for in your neighborhood things arent too bad over here in Holden. Better than 6 months ago.
Yes you are BSC
I mean that lovingly of course. :-)
I'm looking at west coast, Kori...watch out!
ha! You DO recall the extra 3 feet of snow right?? The S curve of death? The two seasons, construction and winter?
Ecoli in all the smaller lakes?
the rednecks
the close-minded morons
Mud
slush
roof rakes and ice dams
am I helping ??? lol
come on...now you're really making me homesick! LOL
That's reason number one I dislike driving into MI.
DH and I are having this this same conversation... (minus the Michigan part)
Good luck!
