Pregnant after a Loss

AW: 1st day of "maternity leave"

So, day 1 of maternity leave.  I have it quotations since I own my business/work for myself, so it's not like I am getting any paid time off or anything cool, but it's amazing not to have to worry about patients for a long while (probably 3-4 months).

But it feels nice to still be in my pajamas Wink

  • Yeah I would have loved to work another month... problem is, I have to give the people I work with plenty of time to accept the fact that I am going to be gone for a while (and have had to refer some of them on).  If I were to go into labor and not have a proper "final" session, it would not be good. Of course, I'll probably go overdue... but couldn't take that chance.  Yesterday was a very emotional day.  I had no idea how attached to my work I really am.

  • Lucky you! Enjoy your time!

I?m debating on when to take my maternity leave. If I should work until she arrives or take a couple weeks off before hand. Even thought about the last month requesting to only work part-time. However, holiday?s seem to be the busiest time at the law firm so I?m not so sure my client work-load will be light at that time.

  • The sad part is, I wish I were going to work today! I can't sort myself out.  I really adore my job and everything about it. It's nice to be home, though I also don't make any money at home... I'm so torn! I know it was the right decision though.

When I worked in group practice, I worked with a girl whose due date was a few days before mine. She had her baby this past weekend.  She was planning to work up until the week before as she didn't think her DS was coming early.  We had lunch a couple weeks ago and I joked that he'd probably come early just to screw with her work schedule.  I was right Wink
