My fury continues...

I received a call from my dr's office to schedule me for an appointment with my dr once she returns from her vacation.  I asked how much it would cost, since I now know this is all OOP for me.  I must have spent 30 minutes being transfered around and around that office talking to different people.  I got the pricing for the consult appointment and the cost of a DNC for potential polyps/endo.  Although they could only give me my dr's fee, I have to call the hospital to get their fee.  What a nightmare!  Anyway, I finally get back with the scheduling person and she tells me the soonest she can get me in with my dr. is October 22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WTF! You are totally wasting my time!  That effectively means that I can make no real progress in my treatment for 2 cycles.  I was so pissed but took the appointment spot.  Then in my fury I decided to call the dr, who I hate because he has a terrible, terrible bedside manner, that essentially got me pregnant with Bone Jr.  I asked for the cost of the consult which is comparable and asked when he could see me.  "Thursday afternoon", she said.  I took it!  He obviously isn't as popular as my current dr., although lots of people in Portland seem to like him, but I know he is really proactive and will move things along.  I know the clomid I am taking right now isn't going to work.  I wish I had made this call on Friday before I agreed to filling the clomid prescription again.  In the crazy, off chance that I do manage to get pregnant this cycle, I will not feel bad about spending the money for a consultation I didn't need.

I really wish I didn't have to choose between the dr with bad bedside manner vs the dr with poor customer service.  Ugh!

  • That's a crappy decision to have to make.  If it makes you feel any better I would go with Poor Bedside Manner Dr just to keep things moving if it were me.  The thought of dealing with a dr with a horrible manner isn't nearly distasteful enough to make me sit out cycles :)

I guess so long as you go in knowing he can be a turd you should be okay!

GL and let us know how it goes.

  • I am sorry, that sucks!

I think i would go with the doc with no bedside manner too.  He got you preg. once.

I felt similarly sometimes at my place.  Not that he had no bedside manner, but just that it was a little stiff sometimes.

Hopefully he will get you preggo right away and you won't have to worry about his manner for long.

I had to have a hysteroscopy for polyps and it was covered under my medical insurance (we have nothing for IF treatments).  My doc said that polyps is a medical condition.  Maybe this totally doesn't apply to you, but i just wanted to throw it out there. It just seems that since they were giving you the run around maybe they didn't check into everything for you.

  • I too would go with the poor bedside one, as long as he was proactive. There are things about my RE I dislike, but I'm sticking with him till I see heartbeats on the u/s then finding a better OB/GYN to cover the pregnancy.

I'm sorry you have to go through all this crap, I hope things get better for you soon!
