Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Wont eat?

My LO has this past week started taking 2 ounces and then he wants to spit the bottle out. I have to keep the bottle in his mouth for him to drink more until he finally gets through 4 ounces. Tonight before bed he only took 1 ounce and wanted nothing more to do with it....

What am I doing wrong? Or why is he doing this :(

TIA

  • oh and he got his shots last Tuesday and this has been going on ever since then...could it be the shots having an effect this long??

  • My LO has been doing this since he turned 3 months old.  He went from eating 35-40 ozs a day to an average of 20 ozs - sometimes more, sometimes less.  He is going to be 4 months in a few days and is still the same.  I have no answers for you as I am in the same boat.  I've just been reading a whole bunch of articles on what could be causing this and some have said that it could be teething (even if not all the signs are there, babies could start teething weeks and weeks before they start poking through).  Ear infections, sore throat, amongst other things I can't remember.  I'm just praying that he goes back to the ol' piglet I used to know.
  • Mine did the same thing around that time. He was only taking 2 oz or so at a time which was about half his normal intake. Took him to the doc, ruled out thrush, ear infection, cold, etc etc etc. His weight gain was still totally fine so they weren't worried about it. Maybe a week to week and a half later he was back to his old self
