I 've read on here many times that preemies are more susceptible to getting sick - even if they didn't have specific respiratory issues at birth - but why is this true after they've reached "full term" (i.e my preemie is 2.5 weeks adjusted - so why wouldn't he have immune sytem like a 2.5 wk old, etc). I believe it - just looking for a resource that explains it so i can pass it on to my family who thinks he should be like any other baby of his adjusted age.

Actually I don't. But guess what kind of post I'll be working on tonight.
I know I've seen some great info given in presentations - I'll do some searching tonight and put something together.
Stay tuned...
I did a quick search and came across this article:
https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/12/071214094102.htm
It talks about the fact that preemies have less airflow and capacity vs. full term babies. More importantly, they followed babies over time and during that time didn't detect a "catch-up" period. Meaning that the preemie's lungs were still less functioning than full term babies.
Later tonight I'll look for something with pictures and such.
Hope that helps.
On another/similar note - first meeting with the caseworker for Carter's EI eval is tomorrow (not the eval itself though - that still has to be scheduled). I'm looking forward to hearing what they all say!

P.S. Just the other day my father (who we live with right now.ugh.) said, when I mentioned stuff I read online "Well you can't trust anything you read online"...umm..NO...you can trust stuff, you just have to be selective about what you read. This is why, as much as I trust you ladies...I was looking for a more professional source/research study, etc.
