I returned to work on Thursday, and LO won't take a bottle, even though she took it prior to me leaving (but only a few times, and only a few ounces....). Now, she won't even take freshly expressed milk! We have tried all of the tips to no avail.
Finally, I tasted the stored milk and it was AWFUL... considerably different than the taste of freshly expressed milk... it was musky and immediately triggered the gag reflex on me and on DH. I'm thinking now that it might be a lipase issue.
Has anyone dealt with either of these issues? I wish she was refusing only because of the taste, but she is even refusing fresh milk! I'm miserable thinking that she is starving all day... DH is staying home with her and says she just screams and then finally falls back asleep. I've made it home once each day to feed her, but it's not enough!
Re: Major feeding issues.. ugh
Of course it is! I'm just worried because if she won't even take freshly expressed BM, how will I get her to take formula?!
They say BF is better for reflux than a bottle, but if she BF okay and screams after an ounce of the bottle, I wouldn't think that would be reflux. If she had severe reflux I would expect her to scream to some extend for either.
Maybe the nipple flow is too fast or too slow, either overwhelming her or just pissing her off. : )
Or maybe she prefers Bf :-) Or maybe she wants YOU to feed her?
