Mostly I just lay her on the floor and talk to her, make silly faces, etc, and try to get her to smile. Or she'll do tummy time for a bit. She'll watch a rattle or mobile for awhile and sort of bat at it but thats really it. In my book it says she'll start holding onto toys, but she really doesn't unless we put it in her hand. She mostly grabs onto my hair, clothes, or burp cloth.
What should I be doing to "play" with her at this age?
Re: How do you "play" with a 2 month old?
We used to play "what can I see?". I'd point things out to her & tell her their names. I blasted music and sang and danced with her. We practiced head control. I'd hold her hands & pull her up to sitting.
Once she had good head control we practiced the wheel barrow. I'd support her whole body on one arm & let her hands be on the floor. That would work her arm & neck strength.
I'd also make funny faces, funny noises, etc. That was also right around the time she discovered the cats & dogs.
M didn't really start to grab things on her own until like 3+ months. She did really well when put them in her hand too.
Play "where's mommy or lo?" while covering your face or hers with the burp cloth or bib.
