And also have you paid for the first one yet? (medical bills)

  • Yes and yes.  I'd like for this one to be out of diapers or close to it before #2, though.
    I HAVE CHILDREN.

    This.

  • We were very lucky to have great insurance that paid 100% of C's medical bills, but we still can't afford another one.  He will be in daycare starting in January and there's no way we could pay for two in daycare.  We'll wait for the next one until C starts school (or pretty close), unless our financial situation change drastically.  Hopefully my lady parts still work then.
  • Maybe, but we wouldn't be able to save and I'd most likely have to stay home and not be able to finish my grad degree. I'd love to have my kids close in age, but it isn't going to happen (well, hopefully it won't!). I have great insurance so yes, this one is "paid for."

  • yes and yes - in fact we are ready to start trying for number 2.  we didn't see any reason to wait since i SAH.....
  • Yes and yes. But we are waiting probably a few more months. DH applied for a job that he really wants to get. If he does, he said we have the green light!

  • Yes and yes, but we don't want another for at least 2 years. At that point who knows if we'll be able to afford it because we may no longer have IVF coverage and who knows if we'd have 20k to pay for it.

  • Baby #1 is paid off... thank god.  And we can't afford another one, but I don't want to go back to work and us get used to having my income before having a second.  I figure, if we're poor with one, we can be  poor with two.  LOL.  It'll all work out.  I know God will provide for my family and we'll be ok no matter what.
  • Yes and yes and yes!
  • yes and no-  have not received the hospital bill yet-  but i think we'll only owe $100 when it comes b/c insurance coverages

I want to wait till DD is 2

  • Honestly. I couldn't really afford this one.
  • We could barely afford the twins, but atleast we paid all our medical bills off, so now it's diapers and formula eating at our money. Their squishy faces are worth it though. Smile
  • if we conceive naturally - yes, otherwise not sure, medical bills are paid

We would have to buy a bigger car first...I think the only other option from here is a van. Going from 3 to 4 people, we fit, but 4 to 5 is a no go.

  • No and yes.

  • I doubt it, but we don't want another so in that regard we're fine.

We haven't gotten the bill yet. Online it says we'll owe about $800 (plus the $150 for the drugs.) Thank god for insurance, in total it cost about $40K to have this kid.?

  • Yes and Yes. We are going to try to wait until next summer to start trying though so DD#2 and the new baby would be about 2 years apart.

Holy smokes!  Is that what it normally costs to have a baby in the US?

  • No med bills ....

I don't think my sanity could take another one ....

maybe when the twins are about 5 or 6 I'll think about it

  • Yes, we could afford #2, but we'd need to be on a stricter budget since I'd SAH if we had another soon.

We haven't gotten DD "paid off" but that's because the bill hasn't been completely processed yet.  I think we'll end up paying our out-of-pocket max ($1,000), which is a bargain since DD's 23-day stay in the NICU will be around $90,000!

I think we'll start thinking about TTC after DD is 1.

  • Our medical bills are paid off, but there is no way we could afford daycare for two. We'd have to sell our house and I'd have to SAH.

  • No and yes, he's paid for. I have to go to work so that we can afford DS, so it will be a few years until DC# 2.
  • Yes & yes...though when they all are in school, more would be tricky.  Right now paying $5K tuition is doable but more than $15K in tuition is gonna sting a bit.  I do want one more kid though and we could have lots more if we did public school.

  • Sure can. We're in Canada--I never even saw a bill. The next one will be using hand-me-down gear from this one, so that just leaves food, diapers and clothing. With BFing as much as possible, and making baby food, my offspring will be supercheap. Next time I think we'll CD too, which will make things even cheaper. We'd CD with this one, but we're in an apartment without laundry facilities in our actual unit.

  • Could we?  Yes, but it would be hard...especially if it was a girl.  I SAH, so we'd have to cut back more than we already have.  We'd definitely have to move....we live in a small townhouse and his stuff is already overtaking the living area.  I couldn't imagine a swing, bouncer, exersaucer, jumperoo...and other toys floating around here all at once. lol

Have we paid off medical bills?  Yes.  We paid as we received.  DH tries to avoid having bills around...so we paid those off and cut back for a short while.
