J takes about the same as Dawson. But yesterday he took 2 long naps and one short one. One nap was 3 hours! I laid down thinking I'd sleep for 20 minutes and 2.5 hours later I woke up -- before him. Guess I needed it. I'm hoping things are changing, but he's back at daycare today, so my guess is things will go back to normal.
DS takes three-four 40-50 minute naps a day, if he's in his crib. At times he wakes up cranky from his late morning or early afternoon nap and I put him in his swing. He usually sleeps for another hour or two in the swing. I'd love to break him of the swing entirely, but if that's what it takes to ensure he gets enough naps, what can you do.
He STTN 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. or so, so I can't complain.
This is my life too... except he wont let me put him down. He'll only sleep on me or in the moby (also on me). At least he's in his crib at night, but still... this forces me to sit down on the bump all day long!
DS is the same way. Sometimes the naps are only 15-20 minutes long, though he does take a few more. And he only sleeps 3-4 hours at night at a time, with the rare 5 hours stretch.?

C is a cat napper, too. Typically he takes three 45 min naps, maybe a fourth 30 min nap depending on our schedule. He will nap longer if I have him in the Moby but in the crib you can set your watch by him! His total sleep time is only 13-14 hours a day but I guess that's all he needs. I've tried to get him to sleep longer or take more naps to no avail.
And he also STTN almost every night (knock on wood) so I'm not complaining, but it would be glorious to have him sleep for two hours in his crib! Maybe someday..
Some babies are just natural cat nappers, but it's rare. Is he fussy during the day? Since he's sleeping well at night, I'd say that's probably just his natural napping state. If he's fussy, he probably needs longer naps.
My DS is a horrible napper. The only long nap he takes is on me after I get off work. We got the No Cry Nap Solution & it says that if they wake up around 30-40 minutes, they are waking during a sleep cycle change & unable to fall back asleep. Suggestions are to have them nap in a swing so the motion lulls them back, or be ready & waiting for them to wake up at that 30 min mark & soothe them back to sleep before they are fully awake. We've been doing the intervention technique w/ DS for a few days & it's helping - he napped for 2 1/2 hours by himself (!!!!) in his co-sleeper today. Supposedly after a few days to a week, you'll have "trained" them to nap longer. We'll see if it continues to work. Today, all I had to do was lay down in the bed so he could see me (co-sleeper is attached to the bed), & he went right back out after a quick eye flutter.

My baby was a cat-napper until I went back to work 2 weeks ago. He now takes 2 2-hour long naps ... where was that when I was home and needed to get things done!?! But, nowhere near STTN.
DS sleeps 45 mins exactly every 90 mins or so. Up for 90, back down again. It's A LOT of naps and getting really hard to run errands, etc, because he sleeps less and less when we're out. He still will sleep in the wrap though.
I've tried the no cry sleep solution suggestion of sitting in his room waiting for him to move around, start to wake up and rock him back to sleep with no dice. I've also tried gently waking him up at 40 mins and rocking back to sleep and that didn't work either. Ahhhhhh plllleeeeease sleeeeep!

That sounds like a great idea--unfortunately, DD is in daycare so I don't know that it will work all that well. I will definitely try it with her on the weekends though. Great tip--thanks!
My daughter sometimes will take one good long nap in a day and that's it (and be cranky later) or she'll take teeny little naps all day and then be exhausted.
