You know as much as I bitchand complain about the state of our country and what I think is wrong, sometimes I think I need a reminder of what else is out there.
I cannot imagine growing up in an environment where I would be married at 12 - and even moreso, I cannot imagine raising a daughter in that environment. Just horrifying.

That is outrageous and disgusting. She was TWELVE! Twelve year old bodies are not physiologically designed to give birth, even if one is able to achieve a pregnancy. The fact that she was pregnant (married...pulled from school...) in the first place is beyond my scope of comprehension right now. I'm sickened and saddened.

Well said. It makes me realize just how many people would love to have my "problems."
I was working at a hospital in the good old US and watched a 12 year old labor for 2 hours. It was horrible to see. She had been in labor for 8 hours before I got there. Finally, a doctor called for a C-sect because there was no way her pelvis was ready for a vag delivery. I have no idea why it took that long or why they made her labor for 10 hours when they knew the outcome was going to be a C-sect.
There was a 12 year old who was pregnant at my old school. She turned 13 right before she gave birth. I saw her that summer, and she had the baby with her. She looked about 1000 years old as she told me that being a mom was the hardest thing she'd ever done.
Her parents had kicked her out, too. Nice

How sad. No matter how poor I was, I would never sell her off for a marriage. I guess I just do not understand it.
That makes me feel so sick. How horrible for that poor child.

In the end, she was fine. At least medically.
