Shopping for baby = overwhelming!

So I'm starting to work on my registry and quite honestly I feel so overwhelmed. Do I need to get onesies and t shirts for all different sizes (0-3, 3-6,6-9 etc)? I feel like I'm putting too much stuff on my registry! I'm just wondering if I should leave most of the clothes stuff off since most people like buying clothes anyways. My registry feel too needy when I look at it. Is it normal to have a big registry? I don't want to appear greedy!

  • I don't plan to register for any clothes.  I figure people will buy what they like, which is fine.  I can always go after my shower and pick out other outfits that I really like and get them then.

  • Someone mentioned their registry size a while back and I think I rememeber seeing someone say the recommended amt is 5 options per shower guest..(That is alot!)

I'd leave off the cutesy clothes but keep on the onesies and t's because its something that you really will use frequently.  I kept basic clothes like those multi packs on mine but completely ignored the racks of "cute" clothes because people gravitate that way on their own...lol

It never hurts having a large registry, I think it looks like I have more options when there is more on there.  As a shopper who actually uses the registries (at least as a guideline) I appreciate a wide range of options.  Those tiny registries (like I feel mine is..ugh...gotta hit up target aisles again and add some more---got lectured by family already) are hard to shop off of...

  • I feel overwhelmed as well!

I took a friend who is a mommy when I went to BRU to do a little registering. She was very helpful. She guided me along with the things i needed now and didn't need, etc.

  • I prefer shopping off a large registry! I like to have lots of options of what to buy.

  • I felt very overwhelmed too but people are telling me I don't have enough on my registery. I have mostly small items on my registery because I did go to a lot of consignment shops to pick up larger items. I think it better to give people a lot of options and that way if you don't get something you still have time to get it.
  • My registry is 20 pages long.  And I, too, wondered if it seemed like my husband and I were being greedy.  But we have 100+ invitations going out for the baby shower, and people want to buy something ... so we registered for things we weren't sure we needed figuring we can always return them if it turns out that we don't need them.  I registered for 12 onesies in each size category through 12 months, nursery decor, enough cabinet and door latches to lock down a SuperMax prison.  Just everything.  But we're hoping that groups of people will go in together and buy the big things.  We're not revealing the gender specifically because we don't want to get a lot of 'pink' or 'blue' clothes.  I know it sounds shallow, but we'd rather have people go in together and buy the big stuff than get a ton of little stuff.
  • Thanks mamas! Your responses have been very helpful! Smile
