how long did your morning sickness last?

I am at 10 weeks and it is still going strong. I have yet to puke - its just a constant state of nausea. I guess I am lucky that I haven't been hugging the toilet, but at the same time I have always had a phobia of throwing up - so I don't know if that playing a role in this as well.

Re: how long did your morning sickness last?

  • I never really had nausea but I started throwing up several times a week around 8 weeks, usually during or right after I had eaten. This subsided around 20 weeks. I still dry heave in the shower every now and then, but at least my tooth brush isn't gagging me anymore. I think everyone's different.

  • Mine didn't fully go away till I hit the 2nd tri.  The only thing that consistently worked for me was to suck on jolly ranchers 24/7.

Hang in there!  Only 2 weeks to go!!

  • Probably until around 13 weeks,  then it would come back once every 2 weeks or so for the next 6 weeks.  It probably would have ended sooner,  but I started getting heartburn, and that would make me sick too, and it was hard to tell the difference

  • I had maybe a total of two weeks of nausea and it was just random.  It subsided around 12 weeks.  Everyone is different and I definitely feel I got lucky.  I just had some really bad food aversions, some of which I still struggle with.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that it stops for you soon!
  • 13 weeks or so.  I was the same way, never threw up with either pg, but felt like I was going to almost constantly.  It was worst at 8-10 weeks, then it started to lighten up a little where I still felt bad, but not so much that I was waiting to throw up all day.  Around 13 weeks it started getting much better and eventually it was gone completely.
  • i was like you...never got physically got sick just kind of felt yucky all of the time.  it started to get better around 13 weeks and was probably gone by 15-16 weeks and my stomach felt "normal" again.

  • Mine was gone by about 15 or 16 weeks. But I was actually throwing up in addition to feeling sick.

    ditto this.

  • I had the same kind of MS with both DD and DS...and I always said I wished I would throw up b/c then I would have a few moments of relief.  I felt like that 2 - 5 minutes before you throw up ALL day / night.

For me, it lasted until about 13 weeks with both kids.  You may want to try sea bands (you can get them at CVS).  They didn't always work for me, but they did help some.

  • until week 16 (from week 5) and then it returned in the 3rd tri.  fun!
  • I'm a little past 13 weeks and still throwing up daily. I hope yours gets better sooner!

  • I pretty much was kind of like you and felt nauseated all day around 8 weeks, it was a constant feeling but never actually threw up. Until around 11 weeks and then I started throwing up pretty regularly. So with the mix of feeling nauseas, lack of energy and throwing up everyday it was not pretty. This happened for me from 11 weeks all the way until my 17th week. But when my 17th week hit almost to the day I felt so much better, just such a difference. I lost it all, the nauseated feeling, the throwing up and I got my energy back.

Have you tried Zofran for your nausea.... it worked wonders for me!! And I suggest to get the dissolving tablets those worked so much faster for me. And every night I slept with my sea bands and that helped me wake up better in the mornings. With the combination of both I was able to manage the sickness, I just didnt figure it all out until like my 13th week, wish I done it sooner.

Everyone is different, but I hope this helps and I really hope you get to feeling better. Don't worry YOU WILL get through it!

  • Mine lasted from week7-week16. Nothing really helped...I just got use to puking 3-4x a day. Fun!
  • Mine started at 7 weeks, and got really bad at 14 weeks and just went away for good a couple of weeks ago (at 23 weeks.)  I had to take Zofran daily just to be able to eat.  I hope yours does not last as long!  Good luck!
