Am I crazy? I want to host a Christmas/cocktail type of party at the beginning of December and I'll be 8 months pregnant. Is this a really bad idea? DH thinks I'm nuts.

You should totally do it!! My first son was born in late January, and we hosted a Christmas party the first weekend in December. The way we saw it, it was our last opportunity to host an adult party and it was so much fun!!
That was almost 3 years ago, and I'm so glad we did it. We have since talked about having another adult party, but it hasn't happened yet. It's just so much harder when you have kids, and all of your friends have kids, and you kind of feel bad making everyone hire a babysitter (or knowing that they wouldn't and just wouldn't come).
This is your last chance - go for it!
ETA: I just checked and I was 31 weeks, 4 days when we had our party. :-)
One of my best gfs hostessed her husbands 30th B'day 6 days before she went into labor!
We actually talked about it today because I was asking how she felt since we have some big family holiday parties just days before my due date!
Her recommendaiton is...you can do it, just know that with preparation you should make sure you schedule enough time to do things where you can sit down when you get tired and that for food...ask for help in preparation or even better...cater! Because you don't want to wear yourself out before the party starts!
I felt great at 8 months and could have hosted a party, though everyone is different. If you're up to it, I'd totally do it. Much easier to host a nice party with the baby still in the belly than with an 11 month old crawling/running around so this is the year to do it! See how you're feeling a little closer to the date and let your DH know that it will be easy for you because you know you'll get a lot of help from him :-)
I hosted Christmas dinner for 11 when I was 8 months pregnant. Just give yourself lots of time to get things done and don't be afraid to ask for help! Most people will jump right in!
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
I hosted a Christmas party at 8 months preggy and gave birth in Feb. I totally enjoyed it. I had to sit down a lot, but I could still socialize and be hostess.
DO IT! It will be so fun, I love Xmas parties. And you probably are not going to feel like hosting another party for a loooong time once that baby gets here!
I think you'll be fine, I could have hosted a party no problem at 8 months pg. I felt fine. Just get dh to help you out a lot. Plus people won't expect much from a super pg gal when it comes to party planning...so you can get away with more.
I dont hitnk its crazy at all! Theres always the chance that you could go early - but more than likely you wont.?
I threw a big bday party for K when I was 36 weeks. I needed more help than normal (since I was big and slooooow! haha!) and I had a lady come clean our house afterwards which was AWESOME.?
You just have to keep in mind that you probably wont have as much energy as you normally do when planning a party. So plan ahead so that you dont leave a lot of stuff til the last minute and delegate as much stuff as possible. Sounds like a very fun party with great pics! (you, xmas party, round belly! - super cute!)

Good luck!
I hosted Christmas dinner over 8 months pregnant! It was tiring, but doable!
However... You never know how you'll feel. I had it really easy.
