2nd Trimester

What stroller did you get/registar for?

I am having the hardest time committing to a stroller. I have a list of wants (cup holder - tray table - easy 1 hand steering - not ultra heavy - reclining seat) and can not find one that fits every need. So I have been updating the stroller on my registry every day going back and forth between a few. Maybe I am not thinking of one out there?

Getting frustrated about this!

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • which ones are you thinking about, then we could give our?opinions?on them

  • Have you actually tested them out in the store yet?  If not, I suggest doing that.  It totally helped us with our decision.  We went to buy buy baby and they showed us how to hook up the adapters, fold the strollers, open them, the most compatible with infant carriers, ect.  That totally influenced our decision.
  • This has everything you listed above.

Graco Quattro Tour Travel System - Hamilton

  • Peg Perego Aria

     https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3417038&moduleName=Brand+Name+Secondary

It appealed to me because it only weighs 9 pounds. I couldn't lift half the strollers in the store.  It also has tray, cup holder, recline, etc. It can be used as a travel system if you buy the Peg Perego Primo Viaggio infant seat.

Chicco Corina - fits all needs except heavier then I would like, I think

Chicco Trevi - Not sure about how easy 1 handed steering would be  because of the separate "handle bars"

Kolcraft Jeep - looks big not sure if it is heavy (out of stock when I looked)

Peg Perego, Aria - $100 more then the above strollers, trying to justify the cost.

  • Hmm I dont really know much about any of these except the chicco corina because a friend who just had a baby got this one and she loves it so far. ?She said it is a little heavy to get in and out of trunk but everything else is good. Sorry Im not much help, we are getting the macleran techno xlr.

FWIW, my older sister has a 7 month old daughter. She originally bought the Trevi, hated it and went out and bought the Cortina. Hated it (too heavy) and now has the Aria. She is so happy with that one.

I never had experience with the Trevi, but I agree about the Cortina- I had to haul that stupid thing around Disneyland one day and decided I'd never buy one.

  • I am going to get the Baby Jogger citi mini (it's not a jogging stroller). I went to Isis Maternity and the woman strongly recommended it. A mom then walked in with it and told me how much she loves it. I live in urban area so I need something light, easy to fold. It reclines and you can buy a car seat adaptor so you can put car seat in. The graco snugride and several other models are compatible. It is about $230.
  • We registered for the Chicco Corina. I really liked how it felt in the store so we went with it!
  • We bought the Quinny Buzz and registered for a Jeep jogger.

  • Wish i could help..I am having problems deciding. Although I really really want the Peg Perego Uno because of the reversable handle, and all the other nice features but I am not in love with any of the colors it comes in. So the debate will go on for me.

    Peg Perego Aria

I strongly discourage anyone from getting the Peg Perego Aria, unless they have a new model out and have fixed some issues.  Ours is from '07, and we never use it anymore, because the mechanism that allowed it to "pop" open (with one hand, which was a big selling point) broke, and now we have to struggle with it to get it open at all.  It broke after about 18 months of LIGHT use.

But my biggest complaint with the Aria (and shared by many other reviewers), is that it steers like crap.  It is really hard to steer with one hand, which I found myself doing a lot when my DD decided she would rather be held than be in the stroller.  I would break a sweat trying to steer that thing through a crowded store with one hand.  Oh, and the cupholder sucks.  That seems like a small issue at first, but it really is a pain.  It only holds a very lightweight beverage, and, if too heavy, the cupholder will fall down, causing your drink to spill -- on you, most likely.  And there's no tray for keys, small items.

I bought it b/c it weighed 9 lbs, which was nice.  But not nice enough, once we could no longer get the damn thing to open up, rendering it pretty useless.

I would read recent reveiws, and see if it looks like the steering issue has been fixed in the newer models.

They have changed them in the two years since you bought yours.   And as far as the cupholder- the paperwork says it is a water bottle holder so I wouldn't trust a cup with a lid in it and especially not a hot beverage!

The majority of reviews I read and got from talking to people who owned it (yes, I stopped people on the street!) were positive. The way I looked at it is that any stroller I researched had negative reviews. I didn't find one single stroller that had nothing but positive reviews- therefore it didn't make sense to not buy it because someone else hated the cupholder or snack tray, etc.  I didn't see any comments on the steering, but like I said there's been two new models since you bought yours in 07.

So I chose the one that sounded like it would work for us.

We purchased the Baby Jogger City Mini and the infant car seat adapter. We registered for (will purchase) the Graco Snugride. It folds up so easily and is light, but yet sturdy.

  • We registered for the Baby Jogger City Mini. It's super light...I watched my less than 100 lb cousin fold and toss into the back of her car in seconds.  It's easy to manuever too!
  • We will either get the Baby Jogger City Micro or Mini, but considering Phil &Ted's, since we plan on having another baby soon after LO is born
  • What about bumble rides?  Does anyone have opinions on those?  I have only seen and tried the 2008 models and I hear that they have updated them quite a bit.

    Aria for $119

I had the aria a few few years ago when I babysat, the lady I worked for had the graco quatro stoller and I hated it ! It was heavy and bulky!

  • We're either getting the Stokke Xplory (I lust after it, but it's spendy) or the Quinny Buzz, but we're leaning towards the Stokke.  It's the only one out there that has the baby high up, and I hate that most strollers are so low to the ground.

We got the Peg Perego Pliko3 in the same color for all the reasons above^. I think it's a little heavier but I felt like it was a tad more padded. There might be long times when Baby has to be in the stroller, so I wanted it extra comfy.

We also go the Espirit SunSpeed in Orange off of BabyEarth when it went on clearance.

So far we have only put them together and pushed them around the living room, but they seem to be everything we wanted.

  • We also registered for a Maclaren Quest for when baby is a little older.
  • We just registered for the Evenflo Aura Select Travel System..I tested the stroller in store and it was very easy for me to fold & lift.  (one hand)

  • We registered for the baby Jogger City mini. Then Graco 32 infant carrier and the snap n go. Snap and Go and the City Mini adapter were the same price so we decided to go with the snap n go, to save some wear on the city mini. The city mini is great but you would have to buy pieces separately to meet all your needs. Like a cup holder

  • We will use the Baby Trend Snap-n-Go to start.  We have the Kolcraft Countours Options 3(in red) and LOVE it...especially the reversible seat, large basket, overall sturdiness and trays for parent and child.  We use the infant carseat adapter, so you will want to be sure it is compatible before you buy.

  • Maclaren Techno XLR in coffee/blue. Suitable from birth, comes with all accessories (rain cover, car seat adapter, pocket for keys, cell phone, etc.), easy umbrella fold. It is really compact when folded. Plus I got a killer deal on it (retails for 350, I found it for 180 at a local store!). I'm going to buy a cupholder attachment for mama, but that is all it needs!
  • I have the Bugaboo frog as our main stroller. I also have the Chicco Capri (umbrella), Jeep jogging stroller and the snap n go.

I LOVE my bugaboo.  You can buy a cup holder, bag clips, etc.  It does not have a tray table, but that hasn't been an issue (we use the snack traps), and I also bought for $11 a collapsable tray table.

The seat has a large range of motion, but also has the bassinet for infant use.  You can also buy an adapter to place the infant seat right on the frame.

The one negative about it is that the bassinet turns into the seat, so you really can't switch them out.  This was never an issue for us, as when our DD was tiny, we didn't want her in the seat.  An alternative would be the Uppa Baby Vista...the bassinet is a completely separate piece from the seat.

It also has a pretty large basket.
