I can't seem to find a playgroup anywhere that meets my needs & I'm so frustrated. I really want DS to interact with some other young kids, but I really don't want to go to a structured class. I just signed up for a playgroup last night, but they barely gave any info excerpt that it was for infant to preschool ages. I got the email this morning about this month's activities:
Mommys' night out at the bar- ummm yeah
An hour stroller walk in the park- no one stays after the walk & there is no playground
Pumpkin carving party- I can't imagine chasing DS around a room of 50 people (that's how many rsvp'ed so far) weilding knives. I thought maybe it was a pumpkin decorating party, but I saw photos from last year's party they were carving.
I just want to find a group of kids w/themed playdates at homes or in the park. I feel like I've been looking for forever. I feel like this shouldn't be this difficult. vent over. thanks for listening.
Re: Is there a normal playgroup? vent
Maybe check local churches for a playgroup?
My church does one every week and it's just a few moms and babies that sit around and talk while the kids play. We do things outside of that also. Later this month we're all walking with the kids for the Susan G Komen for the Cure.
ETA: The playgroup at church is not in any way "churchy". There's no bible study and people who don't attend the church go. Don't let the fact that it's through a church scare you off (if you're not into the church, or go to a different one).
Could you start a playgroup?
Yeah, I don't think carving pumpkins is the best toddler activity.
Keep looking, maybe you'll find something.
have you seen if there's a Mom's Club in your area? I belong to one and it's great. www.momsclub.org There's organized outings and just regular playgroups where we rotate whose house we go to and the kids just play.
That's sound like what I'm interested in. I'm going to send an email to see if there's one near me. TY!
I double checked all of their past meetups & their is nothing about regular playdates. I guess this group is just more outing-oriented.
I joined a playgroup made up of other Moms that I had met at the Library for Baby storytime. There were 5 Moms who were already hosting weekly playdates rotating whose house it would be at each week. I was invited to one and then I was added into the rotation.
Just go meet some other Moms at some sort of Library storytime, and if they hae a child around your DS's age, ask them if they want to get together sometime.
i found a great mom's group through meetup.com... try that?
Sorry you are having so much trouble finding what you want... that is so frustrating!
