Im just wondering of you ladies who have an adjusted age ticker have one simply to show others where your little one is at developmentally or if you were given one by your Dr...or are they routine in preemies?
My Dr. said that unless my LO starts to shows signs on being delayed then there is no need for one, medically. Granted, she was born at 36 weeks but had more tedencies of a 35 weeker so she was much older than most of your ladies children when she was born.
AND since I have you here, I have to brag and say that DD is going to be a month old soon and is now a whopping 7lbs!! To me, shes huge but I think that weight wise, we have officially crossed into newborn size.
Re: Adjusted Age
I do because DS was born so early, that in basically all aspects (feeding, weight, developmentally) except immunizations, he's treated like he's only of his adjusted age. So for us, at this point, the adjusted age means a lot more to us than the actual age. (DS is 5 months old adjusted - he's in step 1 solids, he's rolling over, and he's only 14.5 lbs! There's no way to relate him to an 8 month old baby!!!)
This is how we are doing it too in terms of feedings and what to expect from him.
At 26w, it definitely mattered. Robbie's 15 months actual, 12 months adjusted, and many of his milestones (particularly gross motor- crawling, walking, etc) are behind even his adjusted age. Everyone uses it- doctors, therapists, etc.
