My baby *may* be coming home today

Everytime I think she's coming home they push it back again. Today is day 46, so I'm crossing my fingers. It's been such a long hull, but I'm thankful everyday for her. My biggest fear right now is putting her down for naps, or bed. She has reflux really bad, and her last apnea episode, her O2 was in the 30's. That was 6 days ago. She will be coming home on Prilosec, and a monitor. Is there any advise for me from mommies who have already been through this....I'm scared. :(

  • Huge hugs to you, doll. (((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))

  • Our only issue is the dreaded reflux, so my 2 cents are elevate and still after feedings, sleep on an incline, and take time with feedings...lots of pause and burpings.  Good luck, hope all goes well and you will have an at home baby, no longer a  NICU baby! ;)
  • hang in there! i don't have any great advice, since we just brought our darling home on oxygen and a monitor 4 days ago...  but at least you'll have her home! :) we do put her in a bouncey seat, or hold her upright for about 30 minutes after her feeds- this minimizes her spit ups.

the docs said that statistically if they go more than 5 days without an episode they're really unlikely to have another. and, it helped me too when they reminded me that termies desat as well- when they spit up, or poop or whatever- they just aren't hooked up to monitors that alarm every five seconds sending their parents into panic mode!

good luck and congratulations on your good news!
