I got to do gymnastics for a short time when I was a kid, but the place closed down and my mom wouldn't pay for me to go anywhere else. I miss having that degree of flexibility!
That said, DD will do whatever extra activities she wants, even if I have to work two jobs to pay for it.
My parents made me try sport after sport until I found one I could stick with. I did swim, gymnastics, dance, t-ball, golf, and tennis. Then I started competitive ice-skating. I skated until Junior year of high school and then I sprinted and did long jump.
Tennis from 4 - now(played tournaments when little, high school and college varsity and league tennis now) Ballet/tap/jazz 5-12 years old and 2 years in college for fun golf 7-12 years old soccer 12-14 years old swimming 5-18 years old and 1 year in college for fun basketball 8 years old gymnastics 8 years old and 12 years old...I can't touch my toes so both times short lived softball 8-16 years old I think that is everything...I think...Oh and Badmitton 1 year in college for fun
Nothing. I feel like I really missed out on a lot of things. I think that's why I'm looking forward to getting Zachary involved in a sport that he loves!
DH did swimming, football and baseball growing up and he rowed from high school through college. I would love for Zachary to be a rower like his daddy when he's old enough!
I did swimming in hs all 4 years, and 4 years of 1m spring board diving. 1 year of cheerleading (too much work LOL!), but spent 4 years doing drama/plays so that kept me pretty busy!
It seems like my 'sport' changed everytime we moved.
Gymnastics (VA), ice skating (RI), horseback riding/jumping(Eng), horseback riding/jumping and swimming (VA), swimming and band (AL), band (TX).
Ok, marching band isn't a sport, but it was an extra curricular activity
LOL Marching Band may not be a sport, but it can be pretty physical. If a guy can lose 70lbs. in one summer of drum corps (a good friend of mine did, he joined the Cavaliers) then it is at least aerobic.
It was my physical activity through 4 years of HS and 4 years of college. I teach band now.
I never belonged to any kind of organized sport in my life, but I did do ballet/tap until 4th grade or so.
I played just about every spvort available to me, ballet, gymnastics, basketball, field hockey, but the sports that stuck are tennis, softball and volleyball.
Re: What sports did you do growing up?
Soccer
Track
Field Hockey
Rowing (in college--I'd love to have that body back too!)
