S/O clicky poll: So when do you clean?

Okay, I am jealous of all of you who relax and enjoy themselves while your LO is napping.  When do you find time to clean your house?[Poll]

Re: S/O clicky poll: So when do you clean?

  • How about a "I clean when I can" I do all of those things (Well not a cleaning service).  I don't always clean when he is napping, or when someone is here to help with him.

  • Yeah, I'm the person who needs the notorious "other" option...I clean all day. I vacuum sometimes when Carter is awake since he LOVES the vacuum, I am constantly wiping counters, putting stuff away, etc. He likes to "help" unloading the dishwasher and folding laundry. I am a freak about my house being picked up though so I can't wait until he naps or goes down for the night to do it.
  • No one right now chose that they clean after LO goes to bed?? I must be going about this all wrong. I typically try to have most of the cleaning done before they go to bed, so that DH and I have time to watch tv, get online, relax, read, etc but it doesn't always work out that way. There are just some bigger things that this is the best time to do. Plus I frequently end up doing laundry, cleaning up the kitchen, living room, etc once the boys are in bed. Hmm.
  • I clean when he naps during the day & when he's awake. Most of what I do when he's awake is in the kitchen, but also I do dusting, laundry & vacuuming.
  • I just do what I can, when I can.  I do some (very little) while they're awake and playing, some during naps and some while DH is with them.
  • I straighten up and do some cleaning when they nap, but DH does all the deep cleaning.  I do the laundry (except ironing) and all the cooking so it's pretty even

If I am lucky enough to have both of them asleep at the same time, I take advantage :)

  • Someone said dusting...I haven't had time to dust since I was pregnant! I hit the big items-- dishes, laundry, and picking up the floor-- after she goes to bed at 7:00. I do that from 7:00-8:00 at night each night, and then after 8:00 I relax with DH. If it's not done by 8:00, it just doesn't get done. Awful, I know.

  • I voted for he helps but it's a combo of all the choices except cleaning service and disaster.?
  • I need other. DH cleans :) I do laundry and dishes but he does everything else.
  • Usually during naps/when he goes to bed.  But, when I have a major cleaning project, I leave DS at MIL's house for a few extra hours and dh picks him up (I teach and usually get there by 3; dh gets him around 5:30).  WAY easier.
  • I do dishes while he eats usually.  But most everything else while he naps.   DH goes on cleaning sprees on the weekends while I watch DS too.  My husband cleans when he is mad too so that helps.
  • I just read a tip in a parenting magazine that said you should clean while your kids are awake because dedicated nap time to cleaning is soul crushing.  So true.

I do what I can while the kids are awake, but some chores (like cleaning the  bathroom) are just easier while DS is asleep.  DD is a great age that she will either help, or go up to her room to play.

  • Dh cleans, he does most of it while he's home with ds. Ds usually just follows him around while he cleans.  I fold the laundry. I usually dump it on ds and make it a game.
