Don't forget about cold and flu season

Cold and flu season has already kicked off it's icky, germy start all over the place.  And it's only mid-September.

Dominic started Kindergarten three weeks ago and he already has had to stay home one day due to a fever.   He's been sick for over a week because he caught two colds in a row (my kid has talent).  

I would highly suggest that people start "winter lockdown" early this year.   Start leaving your preemie at home when you run errands - especially if you have little ones.   When you go somewhere, use Purell as soon as you get in the car.  And then wash your hands when you get home. 

There is some nasty stuff out there - stay healthy!

    I second this...Brendan and I are on week 3 of some kind of cold/virus... ugh!

    i totally agree - ryan made it through his first 8 months with no sickness. and in the last month or so he has gotten 2 colds and an ear infection!

    I hear you guys I am pregnant and really don't want to be sick and take care of a 1 yr old at the same time

    Agreed.  The sick season is already in full swing here.  Usually it doesn't get bad for another month or two.  *sigh*

    I agree about all of the germs.  I can't remember it being this bad this early before. I have a little thing to hang my hand sanitizer on my purse.  I love it, we can clean our hands quickly.

    The kids at daycare (robbie included) all had a cold 2 weeks ago (pretty sure that's what started this God awful ear infection fiasco we're still going through) and two days ago the youngest (4 months) went home with a cold and fever (ear infection for her, too) so I'm sure this will be the next round.

    God help us.

    THIS is why my pedi wouldn't let us leave last Tuesday without ALL of us (DH and I included as well as the girls) getting our flu shots. I HIGHLY recommend that you call your pedi and get your DC one ASAP (if they are over 6 months) and make arrangements for you and your DH and immediate family members to get one asap.  My girls JUST got their first cold EVER last week and it turned into bronchitis (not good for babies who were on oxygen at one point).

    WE (DH and I)...use hand sanitizer like it's going out of style as well as bleach wipes on everything.  Sick babies are no fun, but sick preemies are even worse (IMO..b/c of the anxiety it causes mom and dad). :(

    ugh.  I am petrified about taking my son home in the middle of flu season.  It's going to be a long lonely winter.

    UGH...Carter gets his shots Friday and I am/was so eagerly looking forward to taking him out!

    One note about hand sanitizer - It has been recommend that if you use sanitizer regularly you should wash your hands after 10 times of sanitizer use.  Nothing beats good old fashioned soap and warm water for getting rid of germs :)
