Asher has had episodes where he stops breathing pretty much every day since he was born. Two pedis insisted it was normal and explained it away as normal newborn erratic breathing. I knew it wasn't normal but didn't really push it until recently. Since Aug 20th he has had 3 episodes where his lips turn blue. Honestly, I am pretty convinced it's reflux but since he is growing well and doesn't have the textbook spitting up, pedi isn't sure it's reflux.
Anyway, had his 2 month appt today and after talking with me and consulting with several other pedis, we were sent to the hospital for monitoring. The peds unit is full and A is still young enough so we are in the NICU. My baby is a giant compared to all these sweet little ones around him (he's now 12lb 9oz and 23in long). He had one of his episodes when we got here when the attending physician was there so that is good - but he was not on the monitors yet.
So we are just monitoring, trying to figure it all out. He's done bloodwork and x-rays also. They are making up a bed for me in a shared parents room, but we co-sleep and I know Asher won't sleep without being right next to me. I'm thinking I might just stay the night in a chair next to his bassinet. Ugh, that sounds so miserable. He is EBF so it doesn't make sense for me to even go home and drive back at 3am to feed him.
DH is out getting me food and comfy clothes. I have NO IDEA how long we will be here. it could be a day... it could be longer. It's so so sad to see my precious boy in the hospital - and he's pretty freaked out too. The nurses all love him though, they think he's the biggest nicu baby they've had! lol
Anyway... I will update when I know anything...

Yeah, he does have to be hooked up so they can see what his heartrate, pulse ox, and respiratory rate look like if/when he has an episode.

Oh no. It must be horrible to see him in that position, but hopefully you will get the answers you need and want.
Good luck.
Oh no! Poor baby! Poor mommy! I hope you get it figured out soon! I'm sorry!!!
I hope they're able to do a full sleep study with him there tonight and you don't have to stay very long. If it ends up that he has Apnea I know that Amajane just had an Apnea diagnosis with Marley so she'd be a great support.
Maybe they can at least rustle up a chair that recline for you if you sleep by his bassinet, will they let you hold him while he sleeps? I know he's got to be hooked up to the monitors but maybe that would help him.
(((big hugs))) I hope they get quick and easily solvable answers for you.
