NTR: Nest MD HELP!

While getting out of bed this morning I heard a crack in my neck, and then a pain down my neck and right arm.  Now I can't turn my head to the right or raise my right arm without horrible pain.  Can I just take something to alleviate the pain or do I need to see a chriopractor?  Will it eventually go away on it own? Note: I can't afford a chiropractor. lol

Re: NTR: Nest MD HELP!

  • I would start with 800mg motrin and a heating pad to the area.  That's what I do when I have problems like that.(which is a lot b/c my back is always screwed up)  Im not an MD though.  I would start with your reg. doctor before going to the chiropracter.  My husband got worse after going to the chiropracter.  He had a pinched sciatic nerve and was numb from the butt down.  He did a steroid treatment and then went to a guy who was specialized in medical message therepy which really helped.  Anyways, start with the motrin.

  • I am always having neck aches.  My dr told me to get a knee length sock, fill it with a bag of jasmine rice, tie the end and put it in the microwave for about 2 min.  The sock is good because it fits on your neck better than a heating pad and the jasmine rice releases steam (i think?) and it smells good too.  I am addicted to my rice sock now :)

  • That happened to me once and I ended up having to go to the MD for a muscle relaxer RX.  Definitely try an OTC anti-inflammatory and heat for now.  Hope you feel better soon ... I know how awful that is!
