Preemies

Can you help me find these things?

I have twins, born last Saturday, at 35w6d. They are both home and doing fantastic.  I have two toddlers as well, but both were over 8 lbs and I didn't have to deal with a couple thing then that I'm dealing with now.

The babies are 5lb 5oz and 6lb 5oz, so not super small by any means.  I have to measure their feedings (formula only eaters) in mL.  Currently I'm reusing the little 60mL/2 oz nursette bottles from the hospital, but they're just not made for reusing, and I only have 4 that I'm trying to get by with, because I didn't realize that the other bottles I have (5 oz Gerber/Evenflo cheapies) only break down the mLs by 10s, not down to single mLs.  So, do any of you know where I can find a few that break the mL down that far?

My other issue is socks.  seems silly, but both babies have long feet and super skinny legs....so all the socks just slide right off.

Thanks ladies!

  • Sorry, no help with the bottles. I used the hospital ones for a while and then I just used the 5 oz medela ones.

The only socks that fit Haven's feet were the thick ones from Old Navy. They are pretty thick, but they stayed on her feet all day. They normally match whatever outfits they have at the time, but I think you can find them in solids sometimes. Hope that helps.

Ditto if she doesn't have enough, our hospital gave us a TON of them...!  We do reuse them though (We use them for medicine!)

  • I actually use Medela breastmilk storage bottles for measuring. They are by ML and hold 80.

Socks- my MIL swears by something called "Humpy Dumpties" though i still don't know what she's talking about. I found some great socks in a package at BRU that cuffed nicely, and she thought that's what they were. They did stay on better than other things. I'm trying to think, though, I think they may have actually been Mini Wear brand.

  • for bottles, we used the Medela breast milk storage cylinders.  They have a cap that screws on, but you can also by nipples that fit on it.  We bought the old fashioned yellow latex ones and it worked perfectly.
