I'm so angry at our daycare, I could scream!!!!!
They've been pushing Reese to eat every 3 hrs since she's started there. I've told them time and time again that I want her fed on demand. She's not a big eater. She only takes 3-4 oz every 2-3hrs, but sometimes she surprises us and will go 4hrs. We've tried getting her to take bigger bottles less often, but its just not happening. Even now that she's on cereal, she still eats frequently. (and I swear if they ask me if they can give her cereal at daycare one more time, I'm going to scream!!! I'll let you know when she's ready to have it there!!!)
They tell me on Thursday that she acts like she's still hungry and that she would eat more if there was more in the bottle. I have already started sending a few 5oz bottles and the rest are 4oz. They ask me to send 6oz bottles. I agree to try it out, so today, I send 6oz bottles. I look at her sheet and she ate every 2.5 hrs. She ate 5oz, 4oz, 4oz. They dumped 5oz of breastmilk down the drain!!!! And this is after they dumped a whole bottle down the drain last week because she refused to eat when they wanted her to eat.
This might not be such a big deal if I didn't ep and if I wasn't having supply issues right now. I really wanted to hang up the horns at the end of the year, but with them dumping the liquid gold down the drain, its probably not going to happen.
And I'm so sick of them comparing my child to the others. I don't care if the 8 week old boy is taking 8oz of formula in one feeding-my kid isn't-get over it! We are moving her to a montessori as soon as it opens. It can't happen soon enough!!

I was going to say that you should find a new daycare.. ha ha
I agree, that is just unacceptable. Is there any way to put the fear of God in them so they stop wasting until you switch? (I understand... I cry over spilled milk too).
OMG. I got so furious reading your post. Then I read it to my DH... and even he was like, "OH NO THEY DIDN'T! ARE THEY INSANE?!"
I don't have much else to offer but sympathy, since I don't have any experience in that area. But, OH NO THEY DIDN'T is about all I can say. *hugs*
They are obviously not the ones logging long hours on the horns...The only thing I can think of is what if you portioned some 1 or 2 oz ice cubes of milk that they could warm up and offer LO. That way a whole bottle isn't wasted if they feel she wants more. I would be seriously upset...
I am sooo lucky that DS is with Grama and she feeds him on demand for me.
are you the first women whose ever sent breastmilk there? Jesus H. I'd come UNGLUED. The breastmilk can be rewarmed once anyway, and is good at room temp for 7 or 8 hours anyway.
There is NO reason to be dumping it down the drain.

They can't put the bottle back in the fridge after its been in her mouth. I told them to put it in her bag and I'll reuse it at home. No dice on that one either. I'm just going to send 4oz bottles and they can feed her on demand like I want them to!
