water just broke at 20w3d

I am very new to this board but I just know that you ladies can give me hope, inspiration and prayers. Just from lurking for 10 minutes before making this post it's so refreshing to know I'm not the only one going or who has gone through this.

My water broke on Wednesday 9/9 while I was urinating. I am carrying twins and my Baby A has close to no fluid around him. Baby B however is doing just fine. Their heartrates are normal and I have no fever or infection. Obviously I am on complete hospital bedrest and I'm just praying I can stay pregnant for a lot longer! We're just taking it one day at a time at this point. I really need to hear your success stories!!! Thank you so much!!! And I will be on this board as often as I can. Again thank you.

Also I was wondering how you PM someone? I saw a woman on this board who is in the SAME situation as me! It would be nice to talk to her!

  • I'm so sorry this happened, I will be praying for you and your twins that you can keep them in there for at least 3-4 more weeks! Hang in there, I know hospital bedrest is rough.

Congrats on the twins! hang in there and rely on your family and friends as much as possible. you are in the best place you can be to care for you and your babies. my little guy was born at 25w4d (recent pic above) and is now 3 months old (still in the nicu but doing great) and his neighbors are twins born at 24w5d who are also doing good. just remember you can do it and dont get discouraged. keep us posted! we all have different stories and experiences but we are all as helpful as we can be!

  • Oh no! How scary! I don't have any specific advise, because my water never broke. But I can tell you that miracles do happen, as I'm sure you know from reading this board. I wish you all the luck in the word and will be praying for you and your family. I hope you get to keep your babies cooking for many weeks to come!
  • I hope that you're able to bake them for much longer! You might want to ask your doctor about pool therapy, it can really help with your fluid levels :)

    good luck to you!

  • (((HUGS)))  I stayed in the hospital on bedrest for 8 wks b/c of PTL.  During that time they told me about other patients who have had it harder than me.  Many with ruptured membranes were able to hold out for 8 or 10 wks. and delivered in the safety zone (after 28 wks).  Hang in there, I know it is possible to make it.

  • Hi! I am in the exact same situation. My baby a's water broke at 19 weeks 5 days. The hospital stinks, but it is the best place for us. So far so good for us. We start antibiotics and steroids tomorrow. The doctors think that will push us through to 24+. It is so scary, but taking it one day at a time helps. My goal is to make it through each day, and I have been here for three weeks now. I will keep your babies in my prayers. This is definately not how I saw my pregnancy going (I'm sure you are the same). Keep your head up. The ladies here have been great answering my questions. This board is awesome. I will try to figure out how to pm you!

  • My water broke on one of my twins at 21.5 weeks.  He had just enough fluid around him to hang on.  I was on complete bed rest until I gave birth at 27.5 weeks.  Hang in there - stay strong!  It's a long road, but you have us to lean on.
