2nd Trimester

What's you company's maternity Leave policy

I think mine's pretty good compared to what it use to be.

I get 4 weeks before paid at 66% of the State ( if i have the baby early thought i lose any unused time)

I get  6 weeks after paid by the State Disability program at 66% and than another 6 weeks FMLA paid by the state at 66%.  So all in all i get to stay home for 16 Weeks give or take for a normal birth.

I was wondering what other will get.

10/17/2009 - Our Miracle came 10 weeks early. IF,2 MC and 1 Preemie we have our miracle.. Baby Hope 10 weeks 5days was taken from us on Dec 18, 2007. Forever with us and Forever missed. Triplets Lost baby A @ weeks, Lost Baby B at 6 weeks and lost baby Abigail at 14 weeks when she was born to little for this life..... Forever with us ....

Re: What's you company's maternity Leave policy

  • I get 12 weeks off for FMLA.  But the only part that is paid is vacation and sick time that I have saved up.  So far it looks like I will get paid for about 20 days.

  • 6 weeks FMLA + 6 weeks Parental Bonding Time

    FMLA = 2 weeks at 100% and 4 weeks at 70% (I think)

    Bonding time = 6 weeks at 100%

The great part is you don't have to take them together which works out if you have preemies that are in the hospital or something. You can take your 6 weeks FMLA in the beginning and then take the 6 weeks Bonding TIme anytime in the first year after birth

  • We accrue (sp) extended leave time. We can take up to 4 months for maternity you can use your EL time or not get paid choice is yours. :)
  • Color me jealous. I'm self-employed, I get jack.
  • Nothing.  We're covered under FMLA, but it's all unpaid, so we just use whatever sick and/or vacation time we have saved up.
  • I can take up to 12 weeks with no pay from work.  (They do pay for health insurance during the 12 weeks.)

NY pays me 5 weeks of disability (It's a percentage of your pay up to a max amount...and I max that amount out.  I just can't remember what it is.)

I can use as much personal/vacation time as I want to (assuming I have some available) to actually bring home some cash during the time I'm off.

  • I get 12 weeks FMLA with 8 of the 12 weeks paid 100% by Short Term Disbility- 4 weeks sick time- paid 100% and 2 extra weeks vacation time.

So I'll be out for a total of 14 weeks paid 100%

  • I work for a small company & they don't even have a maternity leave policy. But, according to the State of CA I should get approx 12 weeks off paid at 50-60%. I don't qualify for FMLA b/c my company is too small.

I still haven't worked out all the details with my boss but I'm going to ask for the full 12 weeks off.

  • We can take 12 weeks of leave covered by FMLA. You do have to use your own accrued vacation and sick leave though.

  • I'm a teacher-- I'm due at the end of February and the school is letting me take the rest of the school year off, but it is all unpaid unless I can manage to save up my two weeks of sick/personal leave for the year.  Then I will have two weeks paid.  Whooopedeedoo.

  • Mine's complicated:

I get 12 weeks off, standard. Can take more or less if I want to.

    2 weeks paid 100%

next 6-8 weeks (depending on vag vs c/s) paid 60%

anything else - can use PTO time or take unpaid.

After returning to work though I get a bonus equal to 1 month's pay.

So in short when you average it out it's like getting 80% for 12 weeks.

  • I will get 6 weeks 100% paid (8 if c-section) and then 6 more weeks unpaid under FMLA but I will probably use 2 weeks of PTO to supplement part of that.
  • We don't have one :( and I didn't sign up for short term disability.....so, I am just taking 12 weeks FMLA leave.

This.  And I work for a hospital - you'd think they'd have a better maternity leave!

  • I get 6 weeks full time pay (8 for a c-section).  After that, I'm on my own.

But I can take 6 months of unpaid and still get my job back.  After that I can do gradual return to work for another 6 months, working whatever number of hours I choose.

  • We don't have one. We are fewer than 50 people so FMLA does not apply.

The unwritten policy (i.e. precedence that has been set) is to take 12 weeks off and your job will be held for you. There is no pay by the company. I have private STD insurance that pays 6 weeks disability @ about $1000 a week.  Not my normal salary, but better than nothing.

  • 12 weeks fully paid.

  • I can take up to 6 months and am only paid for my accrued time (which will be about 20 weeks sick + vacation by the time this LO arrives).  Anything else is unpaid.  I'm meeting with HR next week to find out how benefits are effected, when/if I need to COBRA, etc.

  • 1 week sick leave, 4 weeks paid by company, and 6 weeks STD, partial-pay (I signed up for a higher disability insurance, but can't remember the percentage.)

I also will have 5 weeks of vacation for the year and a one-time only 4-week sabbatical I can take.  I don't think I can take all the vacation consecutive with the leave, but may see if I can turn some of it into flex-time and work 4-day weeks through the summer.  And I can't tell if I can take that sabbatical consecutively either, but some people have in the past.  I have to work this out with my boss.  I don't want to make my team's lives crazy, but I'm not losing one day of that vacation/sabbatical next year!

    12 weeks fully paid.

    This!

  • 15-17 weeks paid at 100% (depending on delivery type)

Then you can take FMLA if you want.

  • I get 8 weeks full pay (10 if C) and 10 additional weeks unpaid and after I come back and then I can take the next 12 Fridays off at a 20%reduced pay. I get full bonus while I am gone and will still accrude all vacation and personal days. So overall really happy!  I would love to go part time after I come back so I am hoping that will work out.

this...I can take up to 3 month of ML but all unpaid.  I will use my vac & sick time. I willtake 6 weeks & myDH is going to take 2 weeks after I go back to stay at home with her.  so she will be 8 weeks when we have to send her to daycare. Crying

  • I'm entitled to take 4 weeks off before and 4 weeks after (6 weeks for c-section) During this time, I can take sick leave or use my differential (get my salary but pay my sub from it).  I can also take FMLA for 12 weeks (total) after birth but that's unpaid unless I have enough sick leave (no differential).  Because I'm a teacher and don't pay into SDI, I can't collect from it.  I could have gotten private disability but didn't.

Oh, and I could take longer but I'd lose all benefits AND COULD lose my job at this particular school.

This!  If we elect for STD, we get paid at 60%, but I never signed up for it!

  •

We get a 2 week nesting period - 100% pay - that starts 2 weeks before your due date.

We get 6 weeks maternity leave (8 if Csection) - 100% pay, which starts as soon as the baby is born.

Then, we get 6 weeks paternal leave that we can take right away or through the first year at 100% pay.

Here too!  I have about 9 weeks of sick/vaca time then DH will take 2 or 3 weeks of his time for maybe - just maybe 12 weeks but that's a stretch.  I'm thinking we'll have 10 weeks w/o daycare:(  I so wish I could be a SAHM!

  • I'm a teacher and in my district, we get 15 sick days and three personal days a year, which become sick days if unused.  Sooo... after 12 years with the district, I have 140some sick days- around 28 weeks.  Unfortunately, I can only take 6-8 weeks paid- after that it's FMLA- unless I can get my doctor to not release me until after the end of the school year.
