Why oh why . . .

Please help me understand why my boys are both well-behaved when they are apart. They are good listeners, generally follow instructions well, & play nicely.

However, when the two of them are together, they are like wild animals escaped from the zoo. They egg each other on, they wrestle, they throw toys, they laugh in my face when I try to discipline them, they jump on the furniture, they hit each other. . . They are completely different children when they are together, which is 90% of the time.

Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions, other than wine, which I'm using liberally to solve the problem. Wink

  • I'm sorry, no suggestions.  I can so write this post though!  I just have one more thrown in there!

Woman, you deserve a medal! DH is out of town, so I think that compounds the problem. Generally we can each keep them separated if they are wild, but when it's just me . . . they are like barn yard animals

  • My boys do the same thing.  I think it's b/c when they are alone I can spend individual time with them.  I rely on them to entertain each other sometimes and that's where the trouble starts :)
    Mommy to three adorable boys!
  • Sorry honey, I think it's just a sibling thing! But FWIW (which isn't much), my boys are maniacs together and angels apart, too. Oddly, though, they're getting a little better. They played together with another little boy today (right between their ages), and there were no fights. Noah even told me that the other kid threw sand in Eli's face, and he was kinda ticked about it! So maybe there's hope...?
  • I could've written this post too! Except mine are a boy and girl.
  • At least I know I'm not alone! :-)
