Pedialyte?

LO has a urinary tract infection and started having diarrhea this afternoon.  Since she hasn't been eating well I am worried she will get dehydrated.  I called the nurse and she mentioned pedialyte, but didn't want to be the one to ok it.  I will call the doc in the morning, but I was wondering if I could give her a little pedialyte tonight.

WWYD?

Re: Pedialyte?

  • I think it would be totally fine to give, I'm just not sure how much to recommend.

  • We had to give it to DD this week and she totally hated it!!  We only got about 3 ounces down her.  I don't think it can hurt them, so I would try it now.

  • Our DS told us only to give Pedialyte if DS wouldn't take formula - the Pedialyte was to make sure he was hydrated.  That said - DS doesn't like it... after a sip or two he was happy to take the formula.

Good luck - I hope  she feels better soon!
