Snarky and T-TTC

Need thoughts/Advice (a little long)

So I am home from my HSG. Both tubes are totally clear. My OB thinks I should try a few more cycles (until the end of this year) because the HSG might be trick I needed. If I'm not KU by then she suggest putting me on clomid which she does not do monitoring with (I asked at my last appt).

So basically I know I won't do clomid with her b/c i won't take it without monitoring. So my questions is should I go ahead and schedule an appt with a RE or wait it out a few more cycles. One part of me feels like just skip to the RE now since that's where I'm going to end up either way. The other part of me feels like she is the Dr. so I should listen to her. Thoughts/opinions?

Background for those who don't remember, I tried 7 cycles btw Mar 2008-Nov 2008, then had to take a break. I started trying again in Mar 2009 and am on my 8th cycle (for a total of 15 cycles TTC). I've now done with my OB CD21 bloodwork (which confirmed O that cycle), a Post coital which was good, and DH had his S/A which looked good. I charted a lot in the begining so I've confirmed O many times that way.

  • First, Hooray for clear tubes!

2nd,  can you schedule a RE appt for a few months out?  That way you have something to look towards if the next few cycles don't work.  Good luck

  • I would call the RE now. 15 cycles is a pretty long time. Plus, it could take a while to get an appointment with the RE.

  • Post Katrina there is actually only one infertility clinic here in new orleans so I bet they have a wait, so I could call and just see when the 1st available new patient appt is.

  • maybe the HSG is all you need.  That's what it was for misslb02.  I believe her DH called it her "uterine power wash"  LOL!

If not, then head to an RE.

    Good Luck.

  • get thee to the RE right away

don't torture yourself w/ waiting...for me it was about a month from the time I made the appointment til I actually started treatment, and that was with no waiting essentially to have the first appointment

If you have a wait b/c of the lack of REs in your area, I'd just go on and take the first available appointment and go from there

  • yay! clear tubes!

and i also agree that maybe you should call the RE in advance while you do natural cycles first. your dr might be right...there have been women that get KU after the hsg...hopefully you'll be one of them.

ditto PP. call now and just set the appt for a few months from now if you aren't ready to go in right away. you can always cancel it if (fingers crossed) the HSG did the trick.

I agree.  I got pg on cycle 16.  Congrats on good HSG results!

  • Agree to all. Just set up an appointment with an RE for a few months from now, and hopefully the powerwash will work. I've seen many cases of that being the trick here are these boards.

     Good luck.

  • Yay for clear tubes!  I agree will all the ladies who posted before me: I would make the RE appt now for a few months away, or whenever they will take you since there is a wait.  This way you know you have help in sight if need be.  Good luck!!
