Does your LO spit up a lot?

Aggh! I can't take it anymore...I feel like it is just getting worse. She's not miserable....and has gained weight so my Dr. isn't concerned. But when is it TOO much? It's always on me her the floor - it's gross!!

Dr. said she didn't think I had to switch formulas, I am thinking otherwise....Anyone else?

Re: Does your LO spit up a lot?

  • yep - but she is gaining properly - so no worries - I do a ton of laundry and "spot" mop a lot! DH and I joke... aim for the tile!

  • I just talked to the pedi today about this and he said she's getting to much air and told me to try a different bottle.  I have Dr Brown's right now but I think I'm going to try the playtex drop ins
  • Usually big spit ups happen once every other day (I'm talking an ounce or more comes up...at least it seems like it!). Little spit ups happen every day, all day...with every feeding and sometimes in between. :) I actually got to the sink the other day and he missed me, him and the burpy. Clean into the sink! I was so proud.

  • My daughter spit up on my multiple times a day. I swear sometimes she'd spit up an entire 6 oz bottle of formula that she'd just eaten. She was also colicky for the first 3 months. I don't think formulas had anything to do with it. We ended up giving her Gentlease and that's what she was on for the rest of that 1st year. Not sure if it helped the spitting up. I think it just gradually went away.

Now my new son has not spit up at all. Not one single time. It's weird.

  • my LC said as long as he's gaining and isn't in pain with it than it's just a laundry problem...  he is a spitup king,  /i feel like I bathe in it... it's the age- they will grow out of it

  • I'm breastfeeding & my LO spits up ALL the time - after EVERY meal!  I had the same response from the doc...but it's SO gross.  Talk about a laundry problem.  It totally sucks!  I'm hoping she figures it out someday, but she's a gulper & there's nothing I can do to stop her no matter how hard I try.  But I just hold on to the fact that she's healthy & go from there...

  • Right there with you.  It's called happy spitting.  Pedi suggested Enfamil AR, but it made DS spit up huge chunks of congealed rice starch.  Now we add two teaspoons of rice cereal to every bottle (7-8 oz.) even that small amount makes a difference.  I'd try talking to your pedi again...
  • I just posted the same thing! DD spits up after every feeding, and like an hour later even! You have to be careful when you pick her up everytime because she will most likely mark you! My pedi said the same thing. I was using Enfamil Gentlease but that made it worse and the spit up and poop smelled horrific. Now I use Enfamil Premium Lipil; the smell is better but she still spits up ALL THE TIME. I am talking 3-4 times after every feeding....I guess we are just going to have to keep the spot remover close at hand!
