2nd Trimester

Please don't flame me~cramps!

Ok, so I know what most of you will say...It's RLP.  Or it's BH.  I have experienced RLP for a while now and this is not it.  I have not had BH, but I have heard that they do not hurt and that your abdomen tightens.  This has not happened to me.

I feel like I am getting medium to bad menstrul cramps.  I assume it could just be growing pains?  I am on hold with the doctor now, but I wanted to poll the rest of you to see if you still get these.  This is how it felt in my early 1st trimester.  They went away and now they are back.  For the last few days, they are pretty consistent...to the point where I start to time them and see how many in an hour.  Anyone else?

Re: Please don't flame me~cramps!

  • If you don't think it's RLP or BH, I would call your doctor.

  • I won't flame you, because you are on hold with the doctor's office.  We have pretty close due dates and I haven't experienced anything like mensie cramps.
  • I had cramps this morning that felt like really bad period cramps.  It went away after about 10 min.  Hope everything is ok.  I wouldn't flame you, personally.  I've had so many aches and pains that I don't quite understand it's not even funny!
  • I had them on tuesday on top of a leaking feeling - they had me come in right away and check that it wasn't PTL and that my water hadn't broken or anything. I'd definitely talk to the doctor and see if they want to do something.
  • Could it be gas? I've had horrible cramps and it was gas (went in to be seen, talk about embarrassing). Hope everything is ok.
  • I had what felt like menstral cramps about a week ago, I called my doctor, and they had me go to the hospital to get checked out (it was after hours).  It ended up being nothing and lasted a couple of days. Always best to play it safe i suppose.
  • I get what seems to be like menstrual cramps once in a blue.  They aren't severe, it just makes me feel like what I would feel like if I were getting my period. It usually lasts for a couple of minutes and then it goes away. I used to feel them in the beginning of my 1st tri, a little towards the end and I have felt them maybe twice so far during my 2nd trimester.

  • I've had these cramps pretty much this entire pregnancy. I had them the entire pregnancy with dd as well. The other night they were pretty bad and I was about to have dh take me in but they ended up easing up. I'm going with it being growing pains.
  • I hate to ask this, but I can't figure it out and even checked the glossary....what are BH and RLP?
  • No flames here!  My sister had that happen at 29 weeks and it was pre-term labor.  They were able to stop it, and she's 35 weeks and no more problems, but don't take this lightly!  I hope your doctor can get you in, and in the mean time, sit, feet up, LOTS of water and see if that helps!  Good luck!

  • I had the same thing last week and still have moments where I feel like I have menstrual cramps. I asked the nurse the other day and she said to guzzle water and drink a lot of liquids. She said the uterus is like a sponge and can start to cramp if you aren't well hydrated. I think that's my problem.

  • Thanks everyone. I ended up going to the doctor and all is fine.  She did an internal and said that my cervix was still high and tight.  They did a swab to see if I had any of that protein that is linked to PTL.  And it came back negative.  It may be a UTI, but those results are not back until next Monday.  She said that some women just have cramps all the way through their pregnancy.  Little one is measuring right where she should be and is kicking the S#$% out of my today, so all seems to be well.  She said to rest and load up on fluids.  Thanks again.
